News Kamala Harris decides on Tim Walz as running mate

(CNN) — Vice President Kamala Harris has chosen Gov. Tim Walz of Minnesota as her running mate, elevating the former teacher and Army National Guard veteran to join the Democratic ticket and help lead the party's fight to defeat Donald Trump.

The selection – which Harris personally delivered to Walz via a video call, according to a source familiar with the matter – caps the Midwestern Democrat's short but swift ascent from a relative unknown to a leading driver of the party's attacks against the former president and the MAGA agenda.

Walz emerged from the most accelerated vice presidential search in modern history from a shortlist that included half a dozen Democrats, including Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro and Arizona Sen. Mark Kelly. The vice president held in-person interviews with Walz, Shapiro and Kelly on Sunday.

What do you guys think about him? Is he a good pick? Why or why not? I think from the bit I researched about him he does seem like a decent person.

Better pick than Josh "Israel has a right to commit genocide" Shapiro I guess. I can see why Harris picked him. Still, it's hard for me to get enthused about this, elections stopped having meaningful ability to change the country for the better a long time ago.

I'm not American, but I read up on him and he seems like a good choice. He's done a lot for his state. But I have to agree with Nah, it's the same here really.

I didn't know much about him at all until recently, but he seems like a great choice. He's one of only two VP nominees in my lifetime that I've actually liked, the other of course being Kamala Harris herself.
