Suggestion: Keeping the time.

This is something I just thought of which could be interesting, but since the community is made up of people all around the world, what about having a small clock which keeps the time for where the website is based. It would be a lot easier for anyone who is wanting to get in contact with other people via MSN, trading etc. and can use a base time, without the confusion of understanding timezones.

I'd have to disagree with that. :X

I know from personal experiences that I have had lots of trouble trying to contact users from the other side of the world because of time zones ect. Escpecially organising the isketch Halloween edition! I was up to 2.00 in the morning trying to contact people. D:

I think this woul actually be very convieneint and would help interactive activities arounder here like trading and such; run much more smoothly.

A clock isn't going to change the fact that you won't be able to contact some people until 2am. And even with the clock, you're only going to know roughly when they should be awake. In fact, with this clock, you WON'T know roughly when they should be awake, because it's telling you the time in Texas. The only thing it could be good for is arranging a meeting beforehand, and that could still be inconvenient for some.

I would disagree as tbh such time-zone related things are only a short google search away, and it's not like it's that necessary a feature to add to the server strain already existing. If some features have been taken off because of that, then I don't see that this should feasibly be added on. (And you can always change how the time displays for you if you want I guess...) And if they don't live roughly where the server is... than it kinda makes it somewhat redundent anyways (the general time standard is greenwich anyways, I believe?)

Well, if PC was based on one timezone, then you'd still not know your friend's timezone, unless you Google it. For example, let's say it's 10:00 AM here, and the main timezone of PC says it's 7:30 PM. Maybe my friend's timezone right now is 3:25 AM, and why would they log on just for the PC's timezone...? I dunno if you understood that or not, but if you're trying to say that it would be easier to find friends in your time zone, and make new ones, I still don't think that's a good idea, since you might not like that person or something... :X I'd just let PC stay the way it is right now.

I think what they are wanting is a clock that is set to a cretin time that they can look at no matter what time zone you are in and say well I'm supposed to be on at 5 p.m. according to that clock its 3 pm now so I have two hours.... even though the clock on my wall says its 11 a.m.

I can see how this would be handy... going to Google tring to convert time zones then minus the hours then if you have to convert back to your time zone... >.< I have a friend thats just one hour off and I still get confused....

I don't really think it would be much of a server strain as it does this already for every page you load. if you look down at the bottom of the page it says (for me) "All times are UTC -6. The time now is 09:50 AM."

If you want it to change the above display to the "server" time, go to "Edit Options" in your control panel and down a ways you will see "Date and Time"... from the drop down menu select "UTC -6 Central Timezone (US)" as the server is located in Texas and thus puts it in that timezone. You and your friend will have to do this and all the post times will be UTC-6 as well, its a walk around to having Steve write some more script, but it does work.

Or you both could choose the timezone of your choice.

It might be useful to display your timezone in your profile so it would be easier to calculate what time it is for different people, but an actual running clock seems a little redundant considering that pretty much every OS will display the time in the screen while you're running your internet browser. XD

I know in Windows Vista or later you can set several 'clocks' in the task bar by right clicking on the clock and click "Adjust date/time". Click the "Additional Clocks" tab and set one of those to UTC -6 (Central US time)

Then when you want to see the time in those places, just click on the clock and it will show all of your clocks. :p

The solution to that is just mentioning what time zone you are talking about. And usually in events the host's time zone and the GMT time zone are mentioned. GMT is the general time zone anyways because it's +-0, the prime meridian, see?

Basically, your idea is forcing people to go by one time zone all the time. Gimme a break. That's just an unholy combination of being lazy and being forced to do work.
