So I never saw this section before and I'm deciding that I might as well be social on this forum for once in my life. I have a few friends here and there, but I guess extended introductions are in order so you guys can learn more about me or something like that. So here we go, you guys are in for a treat. Or you guys can go grab a treat. Hahaha oh my god I'm not funny at all that was awful.

My name is Nicholas, I'm a 19 year old Canadian who's currently living in Halifax, Nova Scotia. I'm a really patriotic Canadian (Which some other Canadians might find kinda funny because I also proudly identify as a French-Canadian - I come from a Francophone background and I'm proud, dammit!) I'm currently working on my BA and I plan on majoring in History. People often laugh at me and say I won't get a job with that, but then I tell them that I'm bilingual (working on Trilingual actually) and plan to teach in Francophone/French Immersion studies and that usually shuts them up :V

I'm also a gay man, for whatever that is worth. I'm also a huge feminist and I'm somewhat into the social justice scene. Imagine me as a tumblr version lite (also a lot snarkier imo). I scoff in the name of offensive stuff and bring my own sort of justice down! It usually... has a lot of bitter and cutting edges to it but that's just something you have to get used to about me. I don't mince my words and I don't plan to any time soon? I've spent a lot of time getting walked over and I'm not doing my life to please everyone. Human Rights and general research are a huge hobby but you can also see me playing video games (Mass Effect and Fire Emblem are personal favorites), and I'm slowly dipping my way back into the MMO scene with Final Fantasy 14 (Which I recommend).

As far as pokemon stuff goes, my first game was Pokemon Sapphire. I remember wanting Ruby but my mom liked blue more so she bought me Sapphire. Hoenn is my favorite region, although Kalos is up there too. I'm currently a mod over at Sppf (I don't know if Sppf and PC still have wars these days or whatnot.) and used to be an admin at Ever Grande City (Which I believe gets mixed reception here but c'est la vie). Honestly I just spend too much time online at various forums ahaha. And Irc. And somehow I still have the time to drink!

    Questions! Questions! Questions!

Hi Nicholas! Is it Nicholas or Nick or don't you mind?

What do you think lead you to the whole social justice thingymajig? You say that you've spent a lot of time getting walked over - do you feel comfortable elaborating on that at all?

Hi Nicholas! Is it Nicholas or Nick or don't you mind?

Nicholas! Mother named me Nicholas and haaaaaaaaated it when people call me Nick so I prefer that. Usually I don't bother on correcting people though because it's not the end of the world but if people ask, Nicholas.

What do you think lead you to the whole social justice thingymajig?

I think a large part of it had to do when I started to think I was a gay man. I was just sort of isolated in the sense that I couldn't really talk to people about it (I'm from a small town - The way I grew up I still don't really feel comfortable bringing it up offline) so I ended up doing a lot of work into it online. I eventually joined some fandoms and started to meet groups of diverse people which helped me expand a lot of my worldviews. The internet became a really good resource for learning and reading and I enjoyed it.

Then I started to talk about some concepts I'd been reading with my female friends both online and offline. At first I sort of started to scoff at some ideas, but then I started talking to them and they told me their own stories and that was a huge eye opener for me. A friend had to talk about how she didn't feel comfortable walking to her car at night and that was just a huge deal for me. I'd never really thought about it before, but when I you know, actually talked to my female friends about problems that feminism starts to address I started to gain a lot more respect for the movement.

I think my final evolution of that was tumblr, although I have a love-hate relationship with the blogging platform. I find it really toxic in the sense that there are people who refuse to see the good in anything, and that's not something I really enjoy spending time around. At the same time I'm able to learn a lot of things that I haven't... so it's about proper balance I guess.

You say that you've spent a lot of time getting walked over - do you feel comfortable elaborating on that at all?

Hmm it's not an interesting story but I'll give it a shot.

I suffer from depression and anxiety (Don't we all? Pfft) so I didn't really have a chance to invite many people over as a kid. The kids that I did latch onto were really toxic for me and I had a hard time trying to separate myself from them because I just didn't have the skills to do it. Around my grade 12 year of high school I finally got the confidence to put my foot down and I haven't really looked back. I was always prone to sarcasm and joking online but I finally threw it in a real life setting and ditched some terrible friends for me. People say things that hurt me and you know, while I don't always cause fights over it I also let people know that I will stand my ground over it and that makes me feel really good about myself.

The other one is my eldest sister. We're in a bit of a fight right now (over stuff I'd rather not divulge - I won't go into specifics I'll just give the general here). Basically she sort of thought it was her place to control my life. After a while I finally told myself that it was my life and I can do what I want with it. She had plans for me and while I didn't outright say that I was doing things my own way, I sort of tipped the situation into my favor. She's currently not talking to me because I stood my ground over the fact she nearly outed me to my other sister after a fight we had at Christmas. It's a very long story muddled in family drama which I'd rather not bore you guys with.

Those are the two major points though. I'm glad to be the person I am - even if some people think I'm pretty harsh at times :P

I love Hoenn too! What are your favorite things about it?

Did you end up preferring Kyogre to Groudon?

I don't have any questions about the social justice thing, I just want to say I admire you for it. :)

]I love Hoenn too! What are your favorite things about it?

I think for me one of the largest factors happens to be that it was "the first" game, but I really enjoy the region itself. I think that the gym leaders have a lot of character in comparison to some of their counterparts in other regions. That and I think that if the places existed, it would be without a doubt the prettiest region (except maybe after Kalos). I really enjoy water, and while it was kinda grating to have to constantly surf, it added for some really cool scenery as I played. There's also the whole deal of two rival teams... it's just a fun region.

Did you end up preferring Kyogre to Groudon?

I did actually! Once I caught it and started to use it I never understood why I wanted Groudon in the first place. I did competitive battling for a hot minute too and Kyogre is sort of the staple in Ubers too. I guess he just grew on me.

I don't have any questions about the social justice thing, I just want to say I admire you for it. :)

Thanks! Made my morning. Usually I get the opposite.

English, French... what is the third language you want to learn most then? Or any others for that matter?

I'm in the process of learning German. My goal before I die is to learn 5 languages, which is pretty hefty so it's more of a stretch goal if anything. I believe I'm going to learn Italian and Spanish afterwards, which is kinda cheating because they hold the same Latin roots as French. I don't care for Spanish as a language (As a Canadian online I always wondered why it was such a huge deal... then I realized Mexico and the United States lmfao).

What ones have you played? =D

Oh boy... all of them! I started when I was probably around 9 years old with the first North American release. FE7 happens to be one of my favourites to this day actually. Then I played the rest of them and beat them too. Every single game in the series, thanks to the help of ROMs and Translation patches. It was just a major part of my life when I was about 13-15 or something like that. I'm nowhere near as invested anymore, but I'm really glad to see Awakening take off like it did. Actually scratch the earlier comment, I haven't beaten Awakening yet =(

As a (French-)Canadian/Halifaxian, what do you think of immigrants?

Where would you like to travel? Is travelling on your bucket list?

As a (French-)Canadian/Halifaxian, what do you think of immigrants?

Fun fact for you, the term is actually a Haligonian!

For what it's worth when I idenfity as a French-Canadian I use that term specifically because it doesn't have an association with Quebec. It's not that Quebec is actually a bad place, but rather that it gets a bad wrap because of speratist notions and ridiculous bouts of Quebec nationalism. I, personally, have absolutely no problems with immigrants. Like I said before I'm a proud Canadian so I don't have a problem with people coming to make their lives in this country. North America (although I don't know much about Mexico so I refer to Canada and the states) lies on the foundation of immigrants coming to another land, so I find it sort of hypocritical if people are very anti-immigration.

Where would you like to travel? Is travelling on your bucket list?

I adore travelling. In fact I'm planning a trip to San Francisco right now. I've travelled to... The United States, Mexico, France, The Netherlands, Belgium, England, Spain, France again, Monaco, Italy, The Vatican and Cuba. Travelling is definitely on my bucket list and I'd love to visit Australia one day when I have the money. I'm thinking maybe a travel around Scandinavian Europe, as well as to travel to Francophone Africa.
