Does anyone else really hate how a traded Pokémon wont listen to you if it's over level and lack the gym badges required to control it? I find it EXTREMELY aggravating, especially when trying to get more out of the game by trading Pokémon over early on.

I just think it limits the experience a huge amount when you can't, for example, do a solo-challenge with a Pokémon that can't be found at the very beginning of a game.

I know it's there so you aren't just over powered from the beginning, but it is just a game. Black and White did a good job of this, seeing every gym badge granted you ten levels to work with, but I just started Platinum over again with traded Pokémon, and it's almost unplayable. They expect me to keep my Pokémon bellow level 10 until the second gym?

Yeah, I hate that too. Usually if I want to trade a Pokemon over that's not available, I want them to have that game's OT anyway so it feels more natural, so I breed it and trade it over as an egg. Some games make that impossible though, such as Emerald and FRLG.

The games are always designed for the general public, and most players don't (specifically) go for solo runs with traded Pokémon, or even replace their entire party with traded Pokémon. It's a matter of balancing the challenge of the game for everyone at the expense of a small percentage of people who play the game in this manner, and as mentioned before Game Freak has left a very easy way to circumvent this by using eggs in place of traded Pokémon - especially with the rise of programs that allow you to transfer Pokémon into your parties by means other than the basic trading function.

Yeah, I found it annoying that traded Pokemon disobey you if you don't have a certain amount of badges, but as The 100 Mega Shock said, they did it for a reason (to balance out the game).
