    where did you first encounter lati@s?
    i am having a VERY hard time finding him...
    PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!
     
    He randomly pops up anywhere, I think.
     
    He/she shows up at random. He can be anywhere except in caves and on water i belive.

    Actually, you can encounter them on water. My sister was trying to catch Latios and came across it on the ocean to the East of Pacifidlog(?) Town. What I think it is, is that Latios is more commonly found on the East side of Hoenn and Latias on the West. But that could just be a rumour and the reality could be that you can come across them both in any area of Hoenn.

    True. My friend was surfing on some route (Fogot, bleah sorry) She encountered Latias and started hyperventilating. .__.
    I think you can't find Latias/Latios in caves.
     
    Here's a tip for you. You know that little house with the Wingull in it?

    Get a lot of Super Repels, walk outside, check the grass, walk back in, check it again. Every time you go inside a cave or building, Lati@s moves.
     
    The Lati@s are found anywhere. A tip is to get the Acro Bike and a Max Repel. Get into a grass field, hold down the 'B' button, and leave the DS there. Make sure it is being charged aswell!

    When you come back (usually a few hours later) there should be either Lati@s on the screen. Good luck. :)
     
    Yeah that trick works good
    anyway i found it first between the weather building it was latias in emerald..
     
    ive done this 2 times and it worked both times

    Hint: Latios or Latias:
    Defeat the Elite Four. After you do this, you will be in your room at your house. When you go downstairs, your Dad and Mom will talk to you. You will then see a special on the television. It will be about a Pokemon flying over Hoenn. After it is over, your Mom will ask you what color the Pokemon was. You will have a choice of red (Latias) or blue (Latios). Choose one of them, then go outside. Professor Birch will talk to you, then take you to his lab and give you the National Dex. After this happens, fly to Mauville. Go in and out of the Pokemon Center then go right towards the Berry Master's house. Surf across the water, and go past the beach and the section of grass. There will be two trainers with yellow hair. Stand in front of the trainer to the right, and not the one by the sign. Make sure that you are standing in front of the trainer so that he is looking at you. Walk left and right in the grass. Do not go up or down; stay in the row of grass until you find the Lati you chose. You should have A Master ball to catch it because it will flee after the first turn.

    i don't want to take credit for this cause i did not find this out.

    I randomly encountered mine while surfing near the shard lady's house.
     
    He pops up from a random encounter.
    When you first see the television about the lati, he/she starts off at lilycove, and it's basically just guesswork in where it might travel. Remember, when moving onto another map by walking, the Lati will move to the area adjacent to the region it was in. If you fly however, it'll teleport to a completely random location.
    It may take a while to find it though.
     
    I recommend to keep checking you pokedex. Go in and out of mauville city till latios, or latias is in the daycare area. They move everytime you enter a new area.
     
    the two times i FIRST encountered Lati@s (Latias in Sapphire and Latios in Emerald) it was in the grassy area near the Safari Zone Entrance. It fled, and it gave me a hard time trying to find it again to catch it with the Master Ball.
     
    I found mines when I was looking for a tentacool, just get a lot of Max replies, and get a Pkmn (1st in the slot) thats between levels 36-39, then when you hit a Pkmn you can tell automatically you encountered it

    I found Latios at a route to the Ever Grande. It was random! I was looking for a Luvdisc during that time.

    I never found Latias. My friend just traded it to me.

    However, like everyone said, they appear randomly. Good luck finding one.
