    "Leaking" refers to when a song or album is being put out before it is officially released, usually online. Do you listen to leaks of albums before they release? Do you consider it disrespectful to the artist? I've heard many stances on this issue but I'm curious for your guys' opinions.

    I really don't see a problem with it if the listener plans to buy the album one way or another, but if it's just doing it for free I think it's a bit disrespectful to the artist, but I'm certainly not in a place to crucify any other listener for listening to something early.
     
    I mean like. On one hand, it could save you the money, but on the other, the artist misses out on that profit. I guess. I assume?? I don't know how it all works. I personally don't listen to leaks though because I just...idk? I don't really mind waiting on the album to be out officially, lol. Even when artists release songs before the album is out, I sometimes don't listen just because I like to listen to the album as a whole and hearing a song enough before I get the whole album differentiates it too much in my mind.

    But anyway, yeah. I don't listen to leaks and I really don't care if other people do, but I think if you're going to listen to the leaks and you like it, I mean. I would hope you buy the album. You're not obligated, but...you know. It'd be respectful at least.
     
    When I was hugely into mainstream pop, I would listen to the leaks, especially if it was an artist I really liked. I mean a majority of the time, the leaks are super low quality so you really don't get much out of it aside from comparison to the official version.
     
    ^ oh shit that reminds me of the time judas leaked and it was so awful lmfao...like when the actual album came out i was like "....is this even the same song i heard from that leak" good god
