    Pokémon Yellow Rom Hack
    Hack Name:
    Legacy 98 v1.3
    Hack of: Pokémon Yellow
    (DOWNLOAD AT BOTTOM OF PAGE)

OUTDATED: If you want an updated spaceworld 97 backsprite hack for updates consistent with the latest pokemon legacy then comment below with interest. I have updated some trainer backsprites shown in my now rebranded pokemon yellow 97+ hack here: Pokemon Yellow 97+
---that said if there's enough praise for an updated hack like this i will happily do it. thank you!

    Details:

This took me quite a while to figure out and I'm sure it would have been easy for people that understand coding, but I had to learn how just by constant failures assembling the game. I will happily provide credits where credits are due so if I have not properly credited someone, please inform me and I will do my best to make sure their work is appreciated.

Hello and thank you for taking a look at this hack.
This hack is Pokemon Yellow 98's (Green,Red,Blue,Oak) sprites along w/ Spaceworld 97 backsprites injected into Pokemon Yellow Legacy a hack by Smithplays.

(Because of the backsprites being updated I also created a new green front, back & overworld sprite.
this led to me also updating red's, blue's and oaks.)

    - Blue's frontsprite has been updated.
    - Red's frontsprite has been slightly modified, and Red's backsprite is redone.
    - New modified Oak frontsprite is also featured as a post HoF battle with a team inspired by the manga.
    - Green's front, back, and overworld sprite are new.

(that said if you have any feedback on the sprites I'll hear you out and try to create something to suit different tastes.)

I am a little confused. So is this hack of Smith's Pokémon Legacy where you've added the Spaceworld sprites? Also, can you please provide a patch in the download link? Thank you.
Correct. A few other graphic updates but only what is in the description. the patch should be in the .zip file in the link already under Download at the bottom of the page.

Hey I think I found a bug. I got to mt. Moon and everytime i get next to a rocket grunt the game freezes. music plays as though you got spotted but then the player is frozen. no text box, but pikachu still moves. I don't even need to be spotted by the grunt, I just need to approach his vicinity and the glitch happens. This happen twice in mt moon. One grunt encounter was initially avoidable but the 2nd grunt wasn't and now i'm stuck.

I'll test through mount moon tonight I apologize for the trouble! Are you playing on an emulator? Maybe you could send me your .sav file so i can test on my end. I also wonder if it's the source rom.

    Hi. No need to apologize!
I'm playing on an Analogue pocket. I don't think its the source rom as I used the same rom to patch for legacy 1.09 and Legacy 98. There isn't any freezing in legacy 1.09.

Nice! Will try to find some time tomorrow to squeeze in a session of playtesting. Its been really enjoyable even with the bugs.
    Thanks again for your efforts!

Yup. This patch contains legacy plus the graphical modifications all in one. Therefore you'll need a clean Pokemon yellow rom to apply the patch and after doing so, you'll essentially get Yellow legacy with spaceworld backsprites instead of the pixelated ones made by the legacy dev team.

Should be fixed! please test out and inform me of anything that may come up :)
Hey. Played a bit today. got to fuchsia using the route from lavender town and have not encountered any issues. Have 4 badges currently, did Rocket game corner, Lavender tower, but had to stop at fuchsia. Did not encounter any freezing and the npcs now behave as they should when the player gets spotted, with the "!" appearing and they approach to battle. Don't know when I'll get time to play again but its been so fun I'll probably squeeze in another session during the weekend even though I should be working lol. Thanks again and I'll report my findings when I play again. All good so far with the v1.3 patch.

Happy to hear! Yeah it was all because i ran the assembler as a7.0 version and not 6.0 which is dumb but legacy calls for 6.0 specifically 👍

Not going to lie, that sounds pretty dope. I always found the Spaceworld Sprites to be better looking than the final G/S/C ones.
I agree but it's just he back sprites that are changed because I couldn't stand gen 1s overly closeup sprites but thats just me as I was used to G/S/C. the 97 sprites bring a closer to gen 1 feel without moving to gen 2 graphics. also checkout my other "98" hack as it's closer to vanilla with not as many changes I feel.

Yellow legacy just got an update, will you be updating your patch accordingly?
Thanks for the heads up. I'm sorry to be late I'll have to take another look. I don't think it would be too hard but I might have to look at their patch notes and only copy over those. If enough people really want an update I'll make it happen sooner. I kind of got exhausted compiling code over and over the first time but I will put it on the to do list.
