As far as design, I love Articuno
As far as battling, Zapdos is boss
And Moltres... I mean, at least it doesn't look bad.

Zapdos is my favorite of the three birds. I've always liked its typing, its appearance, and its speed. I used both Zapdos and Articuno in Red (well, more recently; I only used Blastoise at first), and they've both served me well. Zapdos fills in the gaps better, though, as my Blastoise already knows Blizzard, and Zapdos has Drill Peck. I've never bothered with Moltres; it always seemed weaker to me in gen 1, and there have always been other fire types I prefer.

I always favored Articuno but for whatever reason i remember using Moltres the most.

Articuno. I used it a bit as a kid, but I was really stuck on the starters then. But take it from a usefulness stand point. I mean, how awesome would it be to fly to a battle riding an Articuno and use an Ice Beam. EPIC!
