4th Gen Legends - Real or not?

Sorry. What made the chaos that Arceus came out of? Almost everything has a beginning.

there's been a lot of debate over what the chaos is. I think it is the universe before the creation of time and space. Somehow arceus was capable of being born. Its not too diferent from most religion, where whatever god they believe in appeared from nothing and started creatin stuff :)

Maybe the universe was already forming, and created Arceus to help it...?

Almost.

Nothing made the chaos. It simply existed, because nothing else did.

Nope, arceus started the creation, bringing order to the chaos. As an example, if you left a jigsaw in a box, would it sort itself out?

But if it was forming, and it made Arceus to bring order, basically the chaos was creator of Arceus and the universe.

I imagine that this is a bit off, but also a bit not-so-off. We don't know anything about what existed in real life before the Big Bang. For all we know, it was chaos. And from this chaos, apparently certain materials were grouped together, forming a massive, gigantic explosion.

I think that the same can be applied to the vortex of chaos told of in the books of Canalave Library. Certain materials were grouped together by the endless currents and tides of the chaos vortex, forming an Egg. From this Egg, Arceus was born.

However, I wouldn't call chaos the creator of the universe, just as you wouldn't call chaos the creator of the Big Bang. For all we know, the Arceus Egg was just a random event, even though I believe differently about real life (I'm Christian).

You're talking about it like arceus was made intentionally. The idea is that arceus appeared from NOTHING, hence the term chaos. Besides, say it had a consiousness, it would be the only thing in existance and there would be nothing to measure its level of 'chaosness' against, so wouldn't see the point in order.

All in all, that post didnt make much sense :S

Chaos and nothing aren't the same thing.

You know what I mean, if there is no time or space then everything is variable since there is nothing to measure it against. That sounds pretty chaotic to me. Can we settle on that arceus wasn't created by anything?

It wasn't created intentionally, as far as we know. However, there may have been a Chaos Pokémon for all we know. For now, we can only say that the Arceus Egg was a random event caused by the materials in the vortex being grouped together.

Thats a sensible expalaination, ill go with that :)

It's like... the planets weren't created intentionally, but they're still there. So the egg just appeared there from bits of (is debris the right word? D: ) and just formed.

Yeah pretty much. It reminds me of when people say everything happens for a reason, but the opposite :)

The planets weren't yet there. There was only chaos.

So the Original Egg, as we could call it, most likely formed from energy, not material.

i think he was using that as an example to describe the beginning of arceus.

The Original Egg came forth from the vortex of chaos that existed before all else. As such, how could there be anything material there, other than the Original Egg itself?
