Suggestion: Letting Users Edit Their Own Polls

This isn't as much of a suggestion as it a peeve of mine... if possible, could the staff allow members to edit their own polls? I feel like asking the staff to edit them for us would bother them. I know the poll system itself is old, but being able to fix our own polls would still be nice...

I don't like the idea of allowing any user to manipulate polls because it can lead to misrepresentation of votes - for example, by changing the names of categories around to reverse the number of votes.

It's a rare occurrence that a poll needs to be edited and it's the staffs' job to help users with that; you're not bothering the mods at all by asking them to make a change to your thread. They're actually pretty friendly, helpful people who want people to come to them for help.

Trust in the community, and the community will trust you back.

Polls are polls. It's easy to tell when someone botches and the results, and if they do, so what? It's not the end of the world and that's why we have moderators - people who step in when someone is rule breaking or abusing rights or something.

I went to delete a poll for a thread of mine, only to find that there was no such option.

There was also no option to create an additional poll to run alongside the first.

There was no option to even edit the poll by adding additional options or to close it.

The fact that I have to go out of my way for my own poll to contact a moderator to edit it to my specifications is far fetched to me. A poll is supplementary to my original thread post. I should have full control over user supplementary features to my own post, in a forum where I have the user permission to edit my posts. So far, this is a unique oversight to PokeCommunity, from the other forum sites I visit with creating polls as an option.

People who think misrepresenting votes is somehow going to be a big scandal of an issue should not slash the idea of editing polls altogether (even the original poster expressed that the option would be for creators to "fix" them should mistakes be published), and instead suggest something more forthcoming, like say, editing a poll option would count as if the option was overwritten with a new one, and therefore, votes would be reset. This encourages people to get it right the first time, or to nip it in the bud early, as opposed to completely editing out one description with another without repercussion.

Perhaps an edit poll option could be made that allowed poll creators to add more options, but prevented them from tampering with votes?
I second that. Give users the ability to add additional options, but not edit the names/descriptions of existing options or remove existing options. Pretty hard to tamper with that, right?

This thread needs more attention. Really.

I thought mods couldn't amend polls? when I did post of the week, I had to make a new topic every week cause no one was able to edit the polls weekly. seems like a pretty basic feature either way and I honestly can't even fathom someone manipulating their own poll, like why would we dictate a potential feature on such a crazy scenario

The issue's been on the radar for things to be worked on. (It's also a little lower on the priorities list.)

Is it an issue of "this user-implemented and user-employed feature is a minor and longstanding issue compared to more complex and upcoming staff projects that it's ranked lowly by importance", or "this feature somehow requires coding from a site developer instead of modified permissions from plain admins, and h-staff has allocated them all to work on something else currently"?

We can edit polls, we just can't delete them.
