I think Pokecommunity should add the feature of liking a users post. If folks have been to the Zelda Community, they'd see it's a cool feature.

    What does anyone think?

We have post comments. Good enough, or just say you like it when you post or yeah. I get what your saying though.

Social Network type features have been suggest before, and are usually not done. PC is not a social networking site, and we dont want/need the RSS feeds, likes, and the so-on.

I believe this actually was under serious consideration, to replace the post comment system. Don't be so quick to shoot something down :P

I would be indifferent to this as an addition, so might as well as long as they replace post comments. I see no reason not to.

This has been suggested/discussed before I think. I don't like the idea because I like how PC isn't Facebook. If you like someones post, mention it in your post (but be sure to not have the post just to say that, you still have to write what is needed for the thread. Or better yet send them a VM/PM saying you liked what they wrote.

Though I could see people just liking someone's post instead of doing a potentially decent post in the thread out of laziness.

Yeah liking a post is much better than commenting on a post. With liking it only takes a single click. I prefer to do that and be on my marry way. It'll save a few seconds lol.

As long as the total number of likes received isn't written on the user's profile anywhere, I'm fine with it. I know it'd put people off if they have tons less likes in comparison to the average poster or something.

This feature is available on another forum I used to go to and it put me off from posting since posters there tended to pick favorites and like posts based on that; was one of the reasons I left. I really hated it. I know how many likes one has should not influence whether you want to post or not, but it's hard to help it when you're human.

I like the "like" option. They have it over at BMGF and it's pretty cool. But I think I'd like post comments better than that if people used them more. And commenting on a post doesn't take too much time either... if you really wanted you could just comment saying "like!" or something.

All these "PC is not a social networking site" posts are stupid.

This is being discussed in HQ right now. Post comments are pretty pointless and will probably be removed either which way.

Ah, good. Glad it's going through the chain of commands. I think post comments are annoying too, they fill the whole CP. It than gets cluttered. At least when you like a post, you can just go to the thread and see how many people like or agree. There is one problem though.

Some users may like a post just because they are friends or because they feel they could discourage another poster. Reminds me when I was at ZU and when I'd post my conspiracy threads, most of the people who disagreed got their posts liked just because.

    That shouldn't be presented here.

Eh, well, we were already discussing it for a few days actually. I can't really go into detail, especially since it is still up for discussion, but if it does happen, it won't be displayed in threads or on your profile (to my understanding) and will only be accessible by you (I think).

That's good news, I'm all for it then! :3

I'm just not sure if I'd want to stick around if it displayed the total number of likes on one's profile, since I've already seen too much favoritism/wanting to get tons of likes to be "popular" around on the other forum I mentioned.

Really? I quite like post comments and I would rather have them than a like button. While a like button is nice I think Post comments allow you to describe what you like about it exactly.

Maybe we could possible do something where you can like a post and it allows you to leave a comment if you want. But if anything I want a notifacation for a like or comment.

Maybe they liked them because they agreed with the poster and thought your posts were crazy as well (no offence but I know some people think conspiracies are crazy)

I like the idea, but I hope people won't go around saying "Like this post" and all :\

If someone did that in a section I was moderating I would consider that spam. So I don't think there will be an issue with that here.

What I'm getting at is that even when I post something with sources or proof, they still fail to acknowledge it.

what? do you think this is Facebook? tsk tsk

People don't have to agree with you. Just because you believe it doesn't mean it's true. I think you just get mad that people counter your stuff and get likes and you get mad.

I don't think liking a post would mean the site would turn into a social networking site.

I think it'd be great to show that you liked a post. It's no different when you tell someone that you do, that's reminiscent to Facebook too o_O

Post comments work fine for that. Or, if they were to be removed, just a simple VM or something. It's so much more personal than "Liking" a post. =/

No I don't...its their lost not mine lol.

Those who does not acknowledge sources or evidence, shouldn't be discussing anything in the first place. It's all a bully fest really. But that's a story for another time.

    Lets stay on topic.
