How much do you strive to impress other people?

I wonder if anyone will notice the deviation from past thread titles and the sudden shift in vagueness.

    I... don't?
I certainly enjoy it when people are impressed with me, but I'd never really thought specifically about aiming to impress people until you asked this question. I'm more driven by the goal of success in general and impressing others only really comes into it if it's a part of achieving a larger goal.

Agreed with pie. It's nice when people recognize your efforts and praise you, but that's a bonus and not something I strive to do. People are social creatures that thrive off of compliments & support though so perhaps somewhere deep down I unconsciously try to impress from time to time, but it's not something I really pay attention to much? haha

I don't. I prefer to just do things my own way, and if people don't like it? Well, tough shit.

I do also agree with Pie though. Getting praised is a nice feeling for me at times. It does depend on the kind of praise. If it's something minor, then I'm just like... why? But if I do something that deserves praise than I don't mind that much at all.

Impressing people is my raison d'être. Being approved of is only second to it. That's just real life, though - internet folks are phantoms, they don't affect me.

But there's two sides to the coin and the non-theatrical part of me is content to sit alone in a corner and stick pencils in my hair. I only want to be impressive because I've spent my whole life sucking at everything. Isn't someone saying 'whoa' a testament to progress? Maybe it'll temper a little once I get some basic skills and the fog in my mind clears.
