    Lost in the World

When was the last time you got 'lost'? Be it from family members when on a holiday, or friends at a concert or even - like me - in the supermarket, we've all been lost at some point in our lives. What happened the last time you got lost? Was it scary? How long did it take before you were found again?

I can't really recall any recent happening of me getting separated from anyone out in public, and I've developed a good sense of direction so I can find my way around and back easily.

The only time I can remember being lost was when I was a wee lad, my mom said I wandered off while she was shopping for clothes and I was actually smart enough to have a clerk make an announcement on the intercom for her to come and find me at the front of the store.

There's only one time I got truly lost. I was around four years old, and my family and I were staying at a hotel in Majorca. There was a large and awesome play park nearby so I often played there. One time my parents took me there and I played there for ages. I was having so much fun that I didn't even notice my parents leaving to go back to the hotel (they thought it would be alright to leave me alone for a while since the park was right next to the hotel). When I was finished playing, I looked around the park for them and I begin panicking because I couldn't see them. So I went up to the outdoor swimming area and looked around there. There was still no sign of them. I was getting really worried and scared, but luckily an English speaking couple saw that I looked lost and helped me find my parents. After a minute of searching, we found them. It turned out they were just at the hotel entrance lol.

But yes, I was scared. I was a little girl in a (mostly) foreign speaking country after all. At least it didn't take me that long to find them.

Well once when I was little I got separated from my grandma in a grocery store and searched the whole store for her, but it only lasted about 10 minutes so it wasn't that dramatic. At the time I actually thought it was pretty cool because I had never really been alone like that lololol.

Then last year I went with one of my friends to see Black Swan at the nice movie theatre which is a good distance away and on the way back I took the wrong highway and we were lost for about 4 - 5 hours. We ended up having to stop at a random gas station get the address there and then try putting it into my friend's phone gps which was just horrible. Not to mention her phone was dying and we didn't get back onto the correct highway until rush hour and so sat in traffic for most of that duration.

The last time I got lost was in Hong Kong during one of my spring breaks there. I wandered too far away from my family after not realizing that they already went into the building we were supposed to go in.

I got lost on campus last year and was like 20 minutes late for a test. I literally stopped in the middle of a quad and opened up my computer to look at the online map and figure out where I was.

The biggest time I was lost though was during the parade at Disney when I was a kid. After the parade there was a huge crowd and my sister and I got separate from my parents, but luckily we knew that if we got lost we should find a police officer so we did and the officer helped us find them again. :3

The most recent time I got lost was when I first had to find my way to college. Even though I had a GPS, I kept taking a wrong turn and ended up going in circles for too long lol. Don't even get me started on finding my way into class :P

I can't say that I've ever been lost. I've missed my turnoff a few times, and I've gotten bad directions from people, but I always wind up finding my way to where I'm supposed to be fairly quickly. I've always been fairly good with maps and directions though.

Today. I was in the town where I went to college and which I (used to) know very well, but I was trying to get somewhere I didn't know from a place I didn't know and I got lost after about 3 minutes. All I had to do was stop and call someone and it all got sorted out quickly.

I've never been one to get lost on my own, only when I'm with people who get lost easily. The larger the group the worse it gets. I'll have people who think they know what they're doing and I'll just follow them until they go "oops..." then I'll be lost and have to wait another 1, 2 or more hours for things to get back on track.

Thanks to meticulous planning and OCD-level of mapping out places, I have never been lost in my life.

The first thing you should know if you ever want to take an outing with me is that I suck at navigation. Don't expect me to know where I'm going, don't ask me to read a map, don't ask me to co-ordinate your GPS system... because I quite simply will not be able to do it. It's frightening. How I've survived thus far in this world without being picked off like the limpy gazelle is truly beyond me.

That said, I have never actually been lost. I always make sure I have a friend with me who does know where the hell they're going, because it took me nearly 18 years of shopping at my local mall before I was confident enough to walk around it by myself lmao.

Last time was when I was 6....when I got lost in a Supermarket and nearly cried if it wasn't for my dad coming to the rescue minutes later.
