Actually, I don't particularly like either of them...

Ludicolo is a remarkable character in Rain Dance teams, while Shiftry makes a great addition in any Dark or Grass Monotype teams, but I've never really found myself willing to use them. I've never really been fond of Pokemon which are a combination of the four main elements (Fire/Water/Grass/Electricity), and I find Shiftry's design far too ugly for its own good. While I admire their usefulness, I simply don't like them as Pokemon, so I shall vote that I do not like either.

However, if the situation arose in which I had to choose one or the other, Ludicolo would be my choice.

Both are rather ugly in design, and I can't forgive Ludicolo for making me lose in the Battle Arcade more than once. :(

The better choice is Ludicolo in terms of actual usefulness... yeah, that's about it.

I love both pokemon. Both are just awesome to use, as long as you don't evolve them too early. After they learn some decent moves, then they are pretty good. Water/Grass typing on Ludicolo is pretty useful, and I like it's design. Same thing with Shiftry; except for it's lack of Grass-Type moves. :/

I like them both, but I've never used Shiftry, but I have used Ludicolo :P

I used to love Shiftry. Then I saw the light, and realised that Shiftry was awful in every single way, and that Ludicolo was awesome.

Seriously. It's a cross between a pineapple and a duck, with a hint of kappa. Wearing a sombrero. That has the same sort of creepy grin as Hannibal Lecter, and the eyes of a nightmare clown.

Plus, if you're into looking up the foreign-language names of Pokémon, you'll see that Ludicolo has the best Chinese name of all of them: 'Happy-Go-Lucky River Lad'.

Got to be Ludicolo for me. It looks like it's wearing a poncho - that alone is just downright epic. Not to mention the fact I love using it in battle. I never thought I would but I ended up with one in a Nuzlocke and I've used it in most of my parties ever since. :)
