Hello and welcome to Make A Good Map (MAGM) 3! This is a Generation III Pokémon ROM hacking contest created by Anthroyd. Your goal is to create a ROM hack that consists of a single map. You may add whatever you wish to your map, including a small story line, a treasure hunt, a battle tournament, a slow walk through a prehistoric village of iron golems, or anything else that you can think of. This year, your map should be built on the following theme:What a Wacky Winter!
Rules
- Your hack must be playtested and beatable.
If you are not able to beat it, then do not assume that others will be able to beat it.
- Your hack must roll some kind of credits scene on completion.
This may be the default scene launched with the special 0x110 command or a custom scene.
- Your hack must consist of one primary map.
Submaps such as house interiors are allowed, however the bulk of your submission must be focused on your primary map. If you put too much
playtime emphasis on submaps, then you will be penalized.
- Your base ROM must be a v1.0 version of any Generation III game.
Decomp hacks should compile into a v1.0 version as well.
- Judges are not allowed to submit their own hack.
If there is an issue with your submission, a judge will reject it and request that your submission be fixed before the deadline.
Guidelines
You may add as many enhancements to your hack as you wish, including music, graphics, ASM routines, sprites, etc. Enhancements are not required. You will not score higher simply by including these extra details, however they may help you to improve the tone or atmosphere of your hack, which in turn will likely award you a higher score. Creativity and thinking "outside the box" is a great way to impress the judges and earn a lot of points! Team submissions are welcome. Disassembly submissions are welcome. Beginner submissions are encouraged. Advanced submissions are encouraged. Visit the #magm-3 channel on Anthroyd's Discord Server for inspiration and conversation with other participants--there are bound to be plenty of progress updates posted on there!Submissions
