I love this forum, its easy on the eyes, full of great discussion, and moderated in a thorough, but not annoying way. I use the trade forum quite a bit, and i'm kind of always on the go, so I try to view it from my iPhone but it doesn't work so well aha. I think it would be totally awesome if the people who made and run this website made an app that gives easy access to not only the forums but the PM service as well. I did notice there was a mobile skin, but its not quiiiiiite the same, albeit it is still is nice. Not only would they get extra revenue from a different breed of advertisements, but they may even grab in an extra audience of on the go people and those who just can't get off their smart phones lol. So anyways ill see what the thoughts are

It's not an app he's working on though, is it? It's just a forum skin for mobiles. Still, the best we almost got!

He and I agreed that when he finishes it I'll wrap it into an app for him - it's really not difficult to do so when there's a full website already there. So it will be an app, just not in native app language.

Just curious - what do you mean by this?

"Native language" is the language the phones speak in - Java for Android/Fire, xCode for iOS, and...actually I don't know what native language is for Windows phones. But it's more and more common now for apps to actually be websites, wrapped in just a small amount of native code to turn it into an app, and have the rest be written in web languages and hosted online.

Hmm, makes sense. So will you have to wrap different native languages around the forum skin to make it compatible with all mobile devices?

Or use something like PhoneGap, which is designed to make it easy to just plug in the site and have results for all apps. I haven't used that before though and I know how to wrap it using Java (and my MacBook is incoming so I can learn xCode/Swift), so when it comes to that I might just do it natively. :) I took a stab at my own app but the APIs for vBulletin are very....not good and I couldn't make my way through them, haha. Nick has far more experience connecting up to the under-the-hood stuff for this forum through his past styles than I do.

I'm not sure I see the benefit of a mobile app that's literally just a mobile skin.
