    [PokeCommunity.com] Mario Kart Discussion!

Oh yeaaaah, Mario Kart. Literally, a series of Nintendo racing games that makes you go, "Oh yeaaaah!". But seriously, do you love Mario Kart as well? Just to give you the list of the games:

    * Super Mario Kart (1992, Super Nintendo Entertainment System, Wii Virtual Console)
    * Mario Kart 64 (1996, Nintendo 64, Wii Virtual Console)
    * Mario Kart: Super Circuit (2001, Game Boy Advance, 3DS Virtual Console)
    * Mario Kart: Double Dash‼ (2003, Nintendo GameCube)
    * Mario Kart DS (2005, Nintendo DS)
    * Mario Kart Wii (2008, Wii)
    * Mario Kart 7 (2011, Nintendo 3DS)
    * Mario Kart Wii U - Coming Soon!

If you have played any of these Mario Kart games before, which characters do you like using, and which Mario Kart Game is your favorite and why? Which items do you like the most, and which ones do you really dislike? Which tracks do you like racing in? Got any accomplishments in Mario Kart?

As a sort of discussion thread, feel free to discuss anything you want about Mario Kart here! <3

Not my favorite kart racers (Crash Team Racing got that crown), but man aren't they extremely fun. I love Mario Kart, and there's not a single one that I don't like from the ones I played. Well, except Wii, that was all content but no substance, and it was broken.

If I have to chose my favorite one, it's actually a three-way tie between MK7, MKDS and MKGBA. (There's a pattern...) I'd say mechanics wise, MKGBA is the most satisfying. It feels like F-Zero in a sense that it's difficult at first but once you master it it's hugely satisfying and the sense of speed is the best in the series. MKDS has SO MUCH content and it was the best for local multiplayer imo, so I have very fond memories of it. MK7 has the best track designs, and I love the car building system, since it makes every character balanced.

I always go for Wario. He's my favorite video game character after all. :P But I actually also use DK a lot, since he's normally similar to Wario in terms of statistics and I love the huge ape. When I feel like it, I might use a different character. I love Dry Bones in DS for example, and Waluigi. I also love using Shy Guy and Metal Mario in 7. It's too bad King Boo is stuck on MK Wii. (And Double Dash, but I only played it at my friend's house.)

Favorite track has got to be Waluigi's Pinball, no contest. I'm a pinball fan, and the track is really fun to race on. That, and Waluigi's awesome, just not as awesome as the track itself. (Fortunately and unfortunately, MK7 agrees.) Did I mention the music? It was so good it got in Brawl.

Indeed. Love that stage as well as the music. Pity Waluigi himself wasn't in MK7, it would have been more enjoyable as him being Luigi's 'rival' than Daisy. Urgh.

I haven't played many games in the series, but I do like MKDS/MK7. I might prefer MKDS a bit more, given the extra content it had as well as good fun had over local multiplayer with it.

I haven't played the SNES Mario Kart, but, I've pretty much played the Mario Kart games that came after that. I use Yoshi or Toad when I get the chance, because, they're almost my favorite Nintendo characters over all. Plus, in Mario Kart DS, they've got really good acceleration boosts, so, I normally just spammed Drift acceleration for faster times on the Time Trials.

Ugh, but I hate Blue Shells though. I mean, I hate being on the receiving end of those shells, which is like, 80% of the time. They can really make a big factor on the placements of each mario course, y'know? (especially when you've just jumped off a ram, and one hits you.. those are the worst situations to be in, imo.)

I really like the Baby Course from Mario Kart: Double Dash, because it's pretty simple, and there can be a lot of chaos from the karts, because they're so close together, compared to the other tracks!

I haven't played Mario Kart on Wii and Mario Kart 7. I've played the rest of them and the most awesome was MK 64. Rainbow Road theme was my most favorite always and Rainbow Road is the best track in every MK game in my opinion. I was always a traditionalist and played with Mario mostly.

There aren't any character exclusive traits in MKDS though. :P Everyone can use any karts.

Which is one thing I don't like about MKDS. Sure, it's balanced, but it feels like more about the karts rather than the characters itself. If they kept the karts exclusive to their characters it would have been better imo. A Mario on a Tyrant will exactly be the same as a Bowser on a Tyrant Though I suppose the lack of character stats (not karts) makes it better than MK Wii, because some of the characters boosts (Rosalina...) were straight up stupid. (In MK7, each character's stat were only determined by their weightclass instead of having unique boost to them. Wario is the exact same as Metal Mario in this case.) It also saved characters like Wario and DK for being absolute crap because their kart are the worst in the game. I still use the Brute though, because it's obviously based off the Wario Car, and anything from Wario Land 4 will be used by me.

Anyway, I gotta give a nod to Wario Shpiyard as one of my favorite tracks in the series. It's really a showcase to how MK7's track designs were fantastic. I maybe biased, but I really love this track, it's one of the water ones that I tolerate because I feel the water actually adds to the track design instead of being just there and unnecessarily annoying. (Bowser's Castle...) Actually, if anything, the track was designed around the constant changing to going underwater and out of it. Also, the overall aesthetics of it is something I adore, because it's very reminiscent to Wario Land 1, being pirate-themed and all. The music is great, too. It's also my favorite remix of Wario Land 1's Rice Beach. :P
