6th Gen Mascot Legendaries Problem

What makes you think that? As far as I know, there was zero indication of what happens to Lysandre after you defeat him. Perhaps the next game will elaborate...

In X, there's a statement where Lysandre at the end, before unleashing the power of the machine, says something about eternal life, in Y it's reversed stating destruction; it's more of a reference from the source power, it was stated before in other threads, Xerneas = life Yveltal = destruction, something like that.

But Lysandre being immortal only works if you have X. If you have Y, it kinda falls apart.

They didn't get mentioned by name until fairly late in the game, it seemed to me. While the moment leading up to their appearance is pretty intense, that's kind of their only moment in the spotlight.

On a "side" note, today I caught Yveltal after two hits with a Great ball, first try.
Probably my best luck catching a legendary ever.

Agreed, I thought that Xerneas and Yveltal should've gotten more exposure earlier in the game. If they weren't on the cover, most people probably wouldn't even know about them until late on. Also what about Zygarde? Lol I didn't even know about him until way after I beat the game, now that was a tease too. I believe that we should've had a bigger impact like in DP or R/S/E had. Don't get me wrong, I liked the story that XY had, but there were many flaws in it.

Oh for Jesus Christ people! Use your brains now because if you think about it you didn't know anything about Mewtwo or Mew until you got to Cinnabar Islands on Generation I, Ho-Oh and Lugia were mentioned first time when reaching Ecruteak City on Generation II, Groudon and Kyogre when getting to that weird cemetery mountain on Generation III and Dialga and Palkia when... I don't even remember, because it was so late on the games. Only the fifth generation lifted cat on the table right in the beginning but by far it has been the worst generation ever and the plot was really twisted to begin with so we can't count on that in the end. The legendaries hasn't ever been the main character in the plot or the evil team - plot has always focused on you filling up the PokéDex and the evil team with legendaries has been a sideplot from the beginning. Not to forget that the third part of the main trio weren't even mentioned that much in the games in two first generations - Mew was mentioned on Cinnabar Island and Celebi was completely event distributed. It was in the third generation that started to make it so that the third installment of the generation was about the third legendary and there they'd have bigger role for the plot. :P

I'm a bit new to pokemon, but I did the playthrough of Pokemon Y at my friends house (As he's played all gens prior to 6) And I've only played yellow.. Anyways! Both him and I were taken aback at the sudden appearance of Yveltal in my game, I saved maybe an hour previously and wanted a better nature so I reset it.. But still needless to say as a semi-new pokemon player, I was shocked that the pokemon on the cover wasn't as important as it looked.
