I'm hoping it's for the Japanese games... but then, why didn't it happen last year?? Unless this mystery "difference" is programmed into all versions and were just awaiting the release in all languages.

why do you think nintendo is going to give the event pokemon out for free?

they'll make more business with advertising and whatnot if they do it with a real life EVENT and not a shoddy little WIFI one. Its Wifi because you can change your DS time to 12/01/08 any time you want x.x

Yeah, but if it's Wi-fi, then not everyone would be able to get it.

Plus, it says:
"Please play Pokemon Diamond / Pearl on January 12th.
You'll find something different!!!!!"

So it must be ingame... since not everyone has Wi-fi.

i think it will be darkrai why else would he be hovering over the pokemon website when whatshisface says play pokemon diamond/pearl on the 12th
 
I have quite a strong feeling that It will be Darkrai, due to the fact that Darkrai's hovering all over the site on the official Pokemon website. I would say something funny on what It might be, but I do not want to my post look useless, since I respect the mods and admin's and all.
 
I doubt it's in-game. Most people at other forums have turned their DS clock to the 12th, nothing special happens. Most likely to be activated on wifi mystery gift that I can think of. Nintendo wouldn't give Darkrai away just like that, would they? =P
 
I hope it will be drakria but it could be ingame play like they programed it to be on Saturday.

But the shadow is only on the English site, not the Japanese one, so I doubt it.

Well, changing the clock doesn't always work, for example for Pal park. I'm pretty sure it's made so you can't use that trick to get it earlier.
 
yeah, I doubt it.

You know what would be funny? They would release a statistic saying how many people played tomorrow, and post it on Pokemon.com. That could be the surprise, that there is no surprise.. o.0

If they distribute Darkrai, it will no longer be sought, because every man and his dog will have one. :(

wow another australian here to, ive just been at the melbourne victory game and im hyped up from all the chanting, seeing as melbourne won :D:D:D. anyway only 22 minutes before whatever it is happens, i dont believe it will be an event, i think its more likely that itll just be something stupid like the ingame character has a party hat on lol for the guys birthday, im guessing ittl be pretty disappointing

Yeah well I don't see how that works out. Some people may never will be able see what happens on 12th Janauary 2008 because someone's DS is on 15th febuary 2008. They can't change thier date back because like you said Nintendo stops you from doing it again like pal park.

Or another example someone can access the event earlier because they have their DS set on the wrong date. Like right now it's 12th for them. =P

It's over on wifi I'd say.
We'll just wait and see what happens, won't we?

And if this happens in real time on wifi, then us Australians will have to wait until our Sunday, which will be Saturday in Japan.

But if it's a clock/calendar thing, not long to go...
