    I was wondering about this too, and I can never find Smogon's announcements half the time, so I just went and made a team with Mega Gengar on it and did an Ubers battle with it.

    It let me use it, so that must mean that Mega Gengar was not banned from Ubers.
    it isnt banned, thats what the ubers room says
    oo now i can play with mega gengar in ubers, been wanting to try ubers :p

    Whew, well that's an initial wave or relief, but does this mean that its suspect test is concluded now, and it won't suddenly be banned from play anywhere under any circumstance by them in a week or so suddenly?

    I'm just hoping it's still usable because they gave up on the initial idea of banning something from the banlist, not because they still can't decide, and just haven't implemented a choice either way; for an impending sudden removal of it.

    Nah

    The current suspect test it over, but that doesn't mean that they can't/won't suspect test it again (Keldeo was suspect tested multiple times last gen but was never banned). And I'm pretty sure that they won't just go and ban it anyway despite the results of the test; if they wanna ban it, they'd have to go through the suspect test process again.

    I have to admit, it's rare for a suspect-tested Pokemon to not get banned but again as Zekrom said above it's happened the same with Keldeo during 5th Gen. Anyways, nice to see that it's not going to be banned from everything because that would have made competitive history.

    i would say the ban of swagger itself made competitive history in gen 6

    Banning it or not depends on what Ubers is defined as. Is it a place where there are no restrictions, or would Ubers eventually become a competitive, balanced tier in its own right in the future? If it's the latter, then I would say ban Shadow Tag, not Mega Gengar. May be digressing here, but I feel that Shadow Tag is what makes it so deadly. Sure, it has wonderful stats, a great movepool, but the same can be said of other Pokemon in Ubers, most of the used pokemon boasting the same qualities as Mega Gengar. What makes it deadly is the ability to come in something that it can easily KO / can take advantage of and essentially grab a free KO if not run some weird set up set on it. With it's wonderful movepool and coming of its spA stat, you're basically already losing one Pokemon to it upfront and the fact that it gains so much momentum because it essentially controls the playing field once you switch it in. Even more deadly if your opponent happened to lead with it and you have a horrible matchup.

    This forces most people, if they want to make it far up where Mega Gengar usage is rampant, to run a dedicated check or counter, which is never good. Something isn't good for the game in general if you're forced to run something to counter it, killing teambuilding creativity and making the game a whole lot less fun to play.

    Sorry for the walls of text. ;_;

    This gen's all about Swagon making history banning things they're not comfortable with in the mega. Er, sorry meta. Good on them though for not banning Megengar from being banned in their banned tier.

    this is the only gen that gf went on a crazy streak, drank some booze and thought to give uber forms to bad mons :/ so mate ur argument is invalid

    Let's not escalate the conversation to another anti-Smogon, pro-Smogon hullabaloo. Thanks.

    No you're not.

    If you cared about the Ubers metagame, you'd be mad it stayed.

    If you cared about Smogon's reputation, you'd be glad it stayed.

    Personally, I'm the latter, but that's mostly because Ubers is a ****hole even without it.
