    Ok....a regular member like me is starting the program.

    Disclaimer (hehehehe):
    PC does not (yet) sponser this program and is currently run by me Pokejungle ^^


    Now, how it works...:

    An older meber (6+ months) will take a newbie under his or her wing to show the rope and rules of PC...You can sign up here to be a mentor or to get a mentor. A mentor can have mas of 2 newbies at a time. Msn and/or AiM is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED FOR MENTOR! Otherwise PMing will have to do. so far the lists go:

    I'm using Newbies for lack of better word. This is not meant to be offensive to anyone, though I doubt it would....
     
    hmm...interesting, maybe you should make another one in OC so more people can see it! :) but im interested in bein a mentor! :D
     
    Err?I guess if you want to help people, great?but we?d prefer for status not to play role. I had to categorize anyone into Elite or vet, and newbie. They?re as much capable as ?vets? are of posting. I?m glad you want to help people, but I think the best way would be to PM a new member if they seem shy or reserved, and offer some help. Making it a business like this kind of forces all new people into a prejudice, which isn?t good. =\ I?ll move this to OC though.

    Well this sure is an interesting idea! It should help out the "real" new members if they had somone to show them the basics!

    it could help alot though because sometimes they feel they dont fit in! and if we have mentors i could help them not be so shy? dunno
     
    *thinks that the simple fact of "join date" doesn't make anyone better than another... just because they've been here for a longer time, doesn't mean they're better and is capable of leading newer members... *

    *believes that everyone likes different things... so what if a new member wants to know his/her way in Pokemon manga, yet the "veterans" (ahem) don't know anything at that either? So there's something to fix*

    *wonders what's the difference between the mentor program and the simple statement of "if you need anything just PM me". Usually when you drop that statement by, it's not too likely that they will PM you immediately to ask to show his/her way around. The mentor program will get the same result. Being "forcedly" taken by someone who you have no clue who this person is would personally make me feel like a slave being sold off to some slavemaster... just like pairing...*

    Yep, 100marios got the hang of PC in no time...and I'll bet there are members that have been on way longer than me that still know nothing and are complete idiots...heh

    Probably, but do you think they would sign up if they didn't know anything? This could also be a good way for older members to meet newer members.

    I really didn't get the 'vet, elite or newbie' thing. OH well.....

    Frostweaver...this VOLUNTEER operation. you don't have to take the newbie.......

    I think it's a good idea. A lot of people PM me asking for a detailed description on how to do something, like put in signature images. This could be turned into something for every member, like if someone wanted to volunteer teaching HTML to another person, etc. *shrugs* I don't know. We had this on an old forum that I went to, and it worked quite well.
     
    Perhaps Kayleigh, but its execution seems poor to me. Like frostweaver said, it?s a lot like the meaningless pairing. I think the tech institute will hold basic guides for how to do the things they PM you with, and if they need help getting used to the place they could PM someone.
