Messing up again, Game Freak?

So, with the new confirmation of US/UM, I realized that Game Freak screwed up. Just like in gen 5, they are creating the remakes within two years, one year for US/UM. Now, not hating on BW2, those are actually my second favorites second only to Platinum, but Game freak messed up. They now can't re-remake the games unless they re-remake FR/LG, HG/SS, DPPT, BW2, X/Y, OR/AS, and then US/UM. And following that trend, unless they want to re-remake games, they can't really make Gen 7 TOO much better. Again, not hating on the generation or same gen remakes, but give yourselves some time, Game Freak! HG/SS was great with the addition of following Pok?mon, but if you were to have created it in the same gen, I don't think it would have occurred! And now that I think about it, how would this USUM fit in gen 7? No-one figured out how to fuse the game legendary and Necrozma, like how they did in gen five with the game legends and Kyruem so would they have to come out with an update? Again, for about the third time, I'm not hating on USUM or BW2 or any remakes, but I just think that they screwed themselves over with doing a gen 5 in gen 7. It could be so much more! But they didn't give much time to think about what all they wanted to add in/change. What are your opinions on this same gen remake? I know that there wasn't much anger towards BW2, but with Pok?mon not coming out on the switch (Thank you Arceus!) and it not being a gen 4 remake (they TOTALLY should have made the remake!), there is a lot of hate going around over this game, but just like gen 5, I still think it will be good. Maybe they'll make it so that like the memory link in gen 5, the champion will be your Sun/Moon character! So, tell me what you think about the gen 5-style gen 7 and what you are hoping for in the new mainstream games!

why not just use a memory link feature to let your s/m char continue their journey through this new story assuming it is a sequel? i mean b/w 2 was different there was basically no link to b/w 1 aside from team plasma and kyurem, the memory link was only used for a couple of N events. this time though since you became champion in s/m why not let you continue the journey, maybe lock away your s/m pokes (or just keep them in s/m) till you beat the new game, give you a new starter and a new chance to try new pokemon while keeping the ones you raised in s/m without having to trade them over later.

Well, we knew they were going to run out of games to remake eventually...and honestly, I'm not entirely sure how this matters. Game Freak have been trying to change up their formula for doing things since Gen III and, whilst USUM is a step backwards in that it seems to be a rehash of what they did with Gen V, that doesn't mean they won't do what we expect them to if they do decide to remake titles in the future.

Remakes have always been updated to reflect the current status quo anyway. Nothing is really stopping them from adjusting things. Remakes are only faithful to the originals in general spirit; the idea of a remake is to enhance an existing title with current systems.

And yes, it's true that they were going to run out of games eventually, but they just sped up the process, now they have only gen 4 and 6 that they can remake, they COULD have kept it up, but I guess they are trying to end the Pok?mon games, since they did this they better have a good recovery or they really did mess up. It would be really cool to have the Char from S/M continue their journey, but then where are the challenges? I think the game wouldn't be hard if they took out the leaders/trials. I do think, still, that it would be really cool to have to fight the char from S/M as the Champion. I really hope they do expand the game a bit more than S/M, and to have the Ultra Space bigger and better, such as the Distortion World? That'd be really cool. Maybe more Ultras and Z-moves and things like that? More Alolan? (I really hope they give Luxray some love like they did in the BreakPOINT in the TCG)

What I mean by that is that they would have re-remake the entire line to get back to gen 7, if they want to remake gen 7 games. FR/LG is a remake, PT is a remake, HG/SS is a remake, BW2 is a remake, x/y don't have a remake, so those are the only two true open games for remakes, and OR/AS is a remake. They would have to recreate those games to be able to get to gen 7. What happens if they wanted to put something, but didn't because they thought it was too hard for the players to understand, then want to put it back in? (I'm talking about the Azure Flute and Junichi Masuda, btw) And B2W2 is a remake. Platinum, Crystal, Emerald, ETC are enhanced versions. If they come for the two main games, such as HG/SS, that's a remake.

I really don't get your logic, and I don't get what this has to do with USUM. Also for your information, B2W2 were NOT remakes, they were sequels.

We've got no idea what USM even are yet. I'd rather have them than no game at all this year, and as for Diamond & Pearl remakes, we will get them eventually which are better suited to the Switch anyhow imo. They had remakes last generation with no sequel/third game, fifth generation they had sequels with no remake, and the generation before that they had remakes AND a single third game. I don't get how this is necessarily a bad thing when it's been a while since we've had games of this kind. I'm thinking and hoping USM are sequels because I love the concept of following up from original games like how BW2 did.

Given that they said there is an "alternate story" to USUM (hahahaha, story in Pokemon games!) I get the sense that this is a reimagining/retelling, rather than a sequel or a third version. Maybe a cross between the two somewhat?

Also, GF don't have to follow any set patterns for remaking games, and I'd be very surprised indeed if remakes took the form we'd expect them to in the future. I mean, nobody saw the Delta Episode coming, did they?

You are correct, because the only thing we've seen are the new protagonist designs and the new forms of Solgaleo and Lunala. I do hope that like you said, US/UM are not just an "alternate retelling" like Masuda appeared to have said, but I also want the story to serve as a continuation of S/M because like you said, B2/W2's plot being a continuation of B/W's was done very well.

I don't understand what you mean by 're-remake' DPPt, BW and XY, because those games haven't been remade yet.
I could understand your confusion about BW2, but those were sequels, not remakes. But, DPPt and XY don't even have anything like remakes. Maybe Pt to DP, but that was an enhanced version like E for RS, C for GS and Y for RB.

Anyway, like others have said, this isn't a remake of SM, it's like Pt, but 2 versions, and probably a bit more.
