Okay, my Microsoft Word got locked because I need to enter a product code that can be found on the back of the box. Unfortunately, Word came with my laptop so I don't have a box. I have Windows Vista and 2007 Word. Where can I find this piece-o-crap Product Code so I can have access to my documents again?

The same goes for me, but I know why.

The MW you get on a new computer is just a trial. They don't give you a product code for a reason, and letting one loose over the internet is pretty much illegal >>

Heres a tip and don't use Word cause it's stupid

Publisher is a much more flexible program to use than Word

take my "Word" for it lol

OpenOffice is probably your best bet, as people have said. There are other alternatives, like 602 and StarOffice (based on the same code as OpenOffice), but they're paid. OpenOffice is free and mostly compatible with Microsoft Office documents.

Google Docs (https://docs.google.com/) is a decent basic word processor if you want something you can use from different computers, but I wouldn't trust it to store all your important documents on - you'd at least want backups.

Comparing Publisher and Word is like comparing oranges with apples. Come on, give me a break.

I've used corel word perfect as my typing program for a long time. I had the newest version(XIII) installed on my old computer, but my new computer came with the trial of Microsoft Word 2007. I used it a bit and I thought it was pretty cool. Seems like it'll take some more time to get used to where all the controls are. I'm considering buying it (if I don't find a free key). But this is just my opinion. My computer didn't come with a recovery cd either, so now I have to rely on restore points(which have %#@$ me over 100% of the time).

Get the software legally for a start -_-
    Or buy it again ;x

U gotta be kiddin me xD

Word and Publisher are much different to each other and everyone knows that

OpenOffice.org is a good Office alternative if you're on a budget. However, if you have the money, get Office because there are some features in Word that cannot be duplicated (e.g. WordArt).

Don't forget Clippy. Worth the $100 any day. ;)
