"My Mum's a broom maker," Andrew began, his eyes becoming distant. His usually fair face was a little pink as he looked at Berii. "She and Dad made Cassidy a broo., and bought me a Firebolt model. They put so much care into her broom. Granted, it's her first one, and it needs to be stable. She probably couldn't handle a firebolt if she tried...but that isn't the point.
"She also got sent to Hogwarts before me. They were going to send me next term. Said I had to work on controlling myself a little better than I do. I know I'm a lot more rash and outgoing than Cassidy, but that is no excuse to treat me like a little kid!"
He balled his hands into fists and crossed his arms over his chest. He looked away from Berii, feeling anger boiling up inside him just thinking about Cassidy.
"We're twins," he told Berii softly, his voice holding more sadness now than anger. "We've always competed with each other. I'm physically stronger, and I have more magical power than she does, but she has something else that I don't."
He had no idea why he was so open to Berii. Somehow, she was different from the other friends he had met here. She was so different from the Slytherins. While his friends from his dorm were condescending and malicious, taking advantage of his brawn, Berii, whom he had just met, was soft and caring. Andrew blinked his eyes a few time, and sniffed.
"I'm an Animagus," he told her, taking the medallion that was tucked beneath his shirt, and letting it drop onto the front of his robes carelessly. "I have all the natural ability in the world, and Cassidy has no natural ability. She's had to train harder than I ever thought possible to be where she is, and my parents adore her for that."
He looked away over his shoulder for a minute, feeling an overwhelming rush of relief spreading through him. He had never spoken to anyone like this.
"But why does it matter," he said, taking a deep breath. He looked at Berii with a melancholy expression, but no tears. He could control that much at least. "I should let you get back to whatever you were doing. Sorry to bother you..."
