"Calm down. I said they trust us both equally. And unicorns belong to no one. They are as free as humans. They have no ruler. You must understand that. And I'm sorry for what your aunt put you through. If you would allow me to pry your mind, so I can descover exactly what happened. I would oppricate it.

"No! You stay out of my mind! Im not trying to rule Soraya and zach! They are my best friends!" I said turning my wheelchair back to the castle.

"What happen to your leg? I'll heal it if you want? I'll stay away from Soraya and Zach if you want me to. My healing powers are greater now, it will only take alittle bit of energy out of h=me. Let me help." I said calmly.

Cassidy watched a few of the other pairs work on putting spells on the objects that Dumbledore sent to them. She hung back, a little nervous.

"Cassidy," Dumbledore said kindly, motioning for her to come over. "It's your turn. I've heard a great deal about you, and I'm very anxious to see what you can do."

"Ah...thank you, sir," she said nervously, straightening up her robes and walking briskly over to him. She held her wand at her side.

"Here we go," Dumbledore said, sending an old, battered chair her way.

Cassidy, stuck out her wand, her eyes growing wide, and she shouted out the incantation for the banishing chamr she had learned last year. She closed her eyes, and the chiar narrowly missed her. She blushed at Dumbledore in shame.

"Oh, don't fret it," he assured her, his long white beard billowing in the breeze. "Try this."

The next object to come her way was a large, concrete block. Cassidy felt her eyes growing huge. She raised her wand once more. If worse came to worse...she could always use her martial arts training...

Dumbledore smiled at her, his expression was one of knowing.

"E-engorgio!" she cried, as sparks flew from her wand. "No! No...I meant...Evanesco!"

The massive chunk of concrete became as tall as the trees of the forbidden forest, and suddenly, vanished altogether. Cassidy let out a breath she had been holding.

"Well, you do seem to have a good handle on spells once you can cast them," Dumbledore told her. The Slytherin she had sparred with earlier snickered. Cassidy frowned.

"I'm sorry sir..." Cassidy said softly, lowering her eyes. "I just..."

"I'm a little disappointed," Dumbledore told her earnestly. Cassidy looked up at him sharply, her eyes brimming with embarassed tears. She was struck speechless. Dumbledore had not finished though. "I was expecting to see some of the martial arts I have heard you are so good at."

"O-o-oh..." Cassidy stammered, pushing the tears back with relief. "I can...I just thought that since it wasn't taught here...I wasn't sure if I was allowed?"

"Of course you are!" Dumbledore exclaimed with a chuckle. Cassidy felt a relieved smile cross her face. "This is Defense Against the Dark Arts, dear! You must defend yourself in any way you see fit! The goal is survival!"

"Okay," Cassidy said, a little more confident this time.

Dumbledore smiled, and sent a dark orb of energy in her direction. Cassidy had not expected this. She had been hoping for something she could physically handle. The orb neared her at blinding speed, a look of curiosity sneaking through Dumbledore's eyes.

Cassidy dodged the orb swiftly, falling into a sturdy back stance, her right leg bent now behind her, her left slightly bent and pointing ahead of her towards the orb. The orb became a Gremlin, its green, pointed ears twitching in the sunlight. Despite its weakness to light, it charged at Cassidy. She faced it dead on, ready to take on any physical attack.

"Accio, bo staff!" Cassidy called. From her room in Gryffindor tower came a six-foot long mahogony bo staff. It flew into her hand with such force, that it made a loud snapping noise.

The Gremlin launched itself towards her, bearing claws and teeth. Cassidy stood her ground calmly, shifting to a strong front stance, and placing the bo in front of her in a defensive position. The gremlin made contact with her bo, its claws digging at the heavily laquered material. She made a swift movement, throwing the monster back, and following through with a frontward thrust that hit the gremlin square in the stomach. It doubled back, and that was when she grabbed for her wand.

"Evanesco!" she exclaimed, sending a charge of magical energy in the gremlin's direction. It disappeared.

"Very well done!" Dumbledore said, a pleased smile crossing his face. "Twenty points for Gryffindor!"

Cassidy beamed, but tried her best to hid it behind her windblown hair, which not covered most of her face. She used the Banishing Charm to send her bo back to her room, and Dumbledore dismissed them. Cassidy made her way to Potions, dreading her first encounter with Professor Snape.

I punched him lightly in the arm, playfully, then went to brekfast.
===
After the first few subjects, it was time for Potions. Ugh.
I went on my way down to the dungeon, and suddenly I bumped into-
"Cassidy! How are you? Oh, I'm sorry, last night I didn't get to interduce myself properly. I'm Terra Lanes." I greeted the suprised girl.

In Transfiguration, Professor McGonagall taught them how to change a goblet into an owl, only three of them, including herself, transformed their goblets to a snowy owl, the rest a barn owl. She earned fifteen points for that.

After Transfiguration, she made her way to Charms, she didn't really do much there. She only turned in her report and Professor Flitwick just taught them a new lesson.

When classes was over she walked to Potions, she lightened up a bit since she was positive Cassidy had the same class as her.

"Oh...hi!" Cassidy said, suprised, and delighted at the same time. She brushed her hair away from her eyes as they made their way to the dungeon. "Nice to meet you, Terra."

Cassidy took a seat next to Terra once they had reached the forboding potions room. She took out her notebook and quill, and opened up to a section she had marked "Potions," and drew a frown face next to it.

"I'm really unfamiliar with a lot of the ingredients you guys use," she admited to Terra before Snape had entered the room. "Japan has a lot of different plants...I hope I can relearn this stuff okay."

A table or two away, the Slytherin she had sparred with in Defense Against the Dark Arts sneered at her.

"Good grief," she whispered to Terra. "I wish that kid would lay off. He's been looking at me like that since Defense Against the Dark Arts! Snape shoudl really put him in his place."

The Slytherin seemed to have overheard her. He brushed back his slick black hair, his blue eyes reeking of glee.

It was then that Snape chose to enter the room.

I whispered to her once out of Snape's earshot: "I'm sure you'll get the hang of it." and shot a quick, menacing glare at the boy, making him cringe and look away, then got out my things, spreading them out on the desk.

Cassidy grinned, and prepared herself mentally for Snape. She had a teacher like him back in Japan. A brutal sort of guy. He had taught her martial arts class. He had been a frightful sort. She had recieved a lot of bruises from him, mentally and physically.

Cassidy looked around her quickly. Where was Berii?

"Its not my leg. Its my back. And no you may not help. Madam Pomfrey has already delt with it." I said in a serious tone. "And I never told you to stay away from Zach and Soraya in the first place. I would rather you ask me first, before telling people they can ride one of them. Soraya let Devon ride her because she was friends with you, and she knows that I liked you. I would very much appreciate it if you didnt let people ride them, they are not like that. Im not riding them anymore, so you might as well take them, since they like you and your friend so much." I snapped.

"Now, now, class, let's begin." Snape said lazily.
I looked up at Snape's pale face-a face ready to shoot insults at the nearest by person, a face full of loathing- along with the rest of the class.

OOC: Have to go for a while....thunderstorm...and my laptop does not have a surge protector.

"Listen I could heal your back! Let me help. Pomfrey can only do so much. But with Flames help I could heal you without problems. And I won't let anyone else ride the unicorns, I promise. At least not without your promision. So can I just help you heal, to gain your trust again?" I asked seriously.

The class droned on (with torture of course). Occasionally, some people-not including the Slytherins, who were enjoying the sarcastic remarks and comments Snape made- checked their watches.

When Berii got in Potions, she saw Terra talking with Cassidy. She smiled as she continued walking in, but the smile on her face disappeared when Snape walked towards her.

"Do you know that your late Miss Asakua?" he said sternly.

"I'm sorry, Sir. Professor McGonagall wanted to talk to me." she said nervously.

"Take your seat over there, now." he said, pointing on the back where almost all Slytherins are.

She nodded in agreement and walked slowly there. As she sat down, Slytherins started talking about her. She ignored them and listened quietly to the lectures of Professor Snape.

I gave a quick nod of greeting and encouragement to Berii as she sat down, and returned to listening to Snape's dull lectures.

OOC: Whew! scary thunderstorm!

IC: Cassidy turned in her seat to smile at Berii, doing the best she could to encourage her in her situation with the Slytherins.

Rap!

Snape's pointer hand landed on her desk, or rather, would have, if she had not sensed him behind her, ready to strike. Cassidy whipped around, and caught the pointer in her palm, feeling no sting as the wooden rod struck her hand. Before she knew what she was doing, she had wrenched it out of his hands in a quick, fluid movement, something she had learned in her martial arts training.

Cassidy's eyes grew wide as she realized what she had done.

"I-I-I..." she studdered fearfully. The Slytherins behind her snickered.

Cassidy handed him the pointer quickly, and she sat stock still, too frightened to drop her eyes to the cauldron before her. She gulped.

"Ah...yes," Snape said. The small sliver of suprise Cassidy had seen vanished from his face. "Our lovely new transfer. Understand this, and be sure not to forget it. Magic can win over any physical attack. You were lucky I didn't cast a spell on you. But perhaps..."

He trailed off, a sinister grin spreading on his face. If you could call it a smile. It was more of a tight, thin line of lips pressed together. The satisfaction of his sinister mind glowed only in his dark eyes.

"Perhaps this will teach you a lesson," Snape waved his wand sharply, and robes bound Cassidy to her chair, leaving her defenseless. "Maybe if you are lucky, your friend here will take notes for you. Thirty points fron Gryffindor."

A few Slytherins chuckled in the corner. Snape seemed not to notice them.

After the dreadful experience was over, students filed out of the classroom. Snape had still not realeased her. Cassidy narrowed her eyebrows, and wiggled her fingers towards her pocket to reach for her wand. She succeeded in grabbing it, and, seeing a cutting knife on Snape's desk, muttered, "accio, cutting knife!"

By now, Snape had left the room. The knife wiggled on the desk for a moment, and then shot straight for her head! Cassidy managed to rock her chair out of the way, and landed, still bound, on the floor. The knife made a sick, stabbing sound as it hit the now closed door.

Snape came striding through the door, scowling at Cassidy, who remained on the floor, but averted her eyes. Snape bent down, and picked her up by the back of her robes, the ropes vanishing. She looked at him fearfully, her fists clenching.

"P-please....put me down," she pleaded, her feet dangling uselessly.

"Do NOT do such things in my class again, or the knife will hit you," he snarled, and then dropped her to the floor. "You will join me in detention tonight, and for the next three days. Do not be late."

Cassidy nodded in defeat, still sprawling on the floor. She grabbed her things and scurried out the door, hoping to find Berii and Terra.

As Liadan swerved back in to consciencesness, her eyes fluttered open. The normally fair skin at her cheeks was rosy from all of the stress exerted the girl's small body. Slowly, a hand was lifted to cup her head as on her own she stood.

"Oww..."

She whined softly, looking up at Zeth. Her mouth formed a round 'o' as her face portrayed a horrified look.

"I-I suppose... I have a bit of explaining to do..."
