After a few laughs we started discussing me leaving.
"I'm sorry to hear that. And what about that Karli girl?" Jill asked.
"Yeah, I still love her, more than she'll ever know now. But I want to get away from here, and if I could take her with me, I would. But I can't..." I said.
"Then why didn't you tell her that?" Wendy said.
"If she knew I still loved her, she would try to stop me, but if I convinced her that I never did love her, she wouldn't try to stop me." I explained.
"I see..." Jill replied nodding her head.
"But it wasn't very nice of you to tell her that, you hurt her feelings." Wendy protested.
"I hurt my own worse, and she'll never know that, and I want to keep it like that. She doesn't need to know that I still love her." I said.
"Oh...if you say so, JB." Will said.
