    I'm not sure if it's serious or not but Smogon says that bringing Gira-O to OU will help to balance the current metagame and other users said that Gira-O shouldn't have been banned when XY came into play. With it in OU, Gira will help to keep threats like Lando-I, Zard Y and Serperior at bay. However, it does have natural bulk in 150/100/100 with 120 offenses so it could, at the same time, could be overpowered. Griseous Orb also cannot be knocked off but users like Bisharp can still do a number to it (252+ Atk Bisharp Knock Off vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Giratina-O: 228-270 (51.7 - 61.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO - the Giratina is the mixed variant). Running some calcs on highly viable Pokemon vs Giratina-O I found that users like M-Altaria and Azumarill can handle it well (based off Giratina's Uber sets).

    What are your thoughts?

    I guess they will conclude it on April 1st. The threats that Giratina is supposed to check are strong but it has 150/100/100 defenses and is very easy to use as a defensive win condition due to its typing. It provides way too much to a defensive core to really be healthy for OU.

    One of the mods edited all the posts to look like suspect discussions. It used to say "lol april fools", "nice meme" etc
     
    Doesn't Giratina-O seem a little too much for OU? The only stat below 100 it has is Speed, the Griseous Orb allows it to gain a 20% to its STAB moves and it has a much wider movepool the other Dragon types on its level like Kyurem Black.

    I truly hope it's an April Fools joke. This thing was scary enough in Uber already... and how can they say it was "one of the poorest choices for an Uber team"?!

    EDIT: apparently it's not an april fools joke, just look at their Twitter. I will seriously try to get 2750 COIL and keep this thing Uber. This thing has like 10 viable sets and is extremely bulky.

    Well apparently they edited it:

    "After removing from the metagame numerous offensive powerhouses, we realized that the time had come to invert the course. The current OU metagame is stale and the abundance of defensively oriented teams led us to believe that a mixed attacker with great defensive and offensive typing will probably give back some vivacity to the tier. At the beginning of the X/Y era, many people suggested that Giratina-Origin shouldn't have been included in the initial banlist. Its base statistics are on par with those of several other Pokémon who characterize the current OU metagame and the fact that it's forced to run Griseous Orb makes Giratina-O a relatively predictable threat. Furthermore, according to top players of the caliber of gr8astard and McMeghan, Giratina-O's 150/100/100 defenses will help balanced teams deal with threats such as Charizard-Y, Landorus-I and Serperior.

    In order to vote, you'll need to achieve a COIL rating of 2750 or more on the OU Suspect Test ladder (in which the Giratina-O will be unbanned)) that will be implemented very soon. Please note that this rating may not be the final rating required, and we reserve the right to increase or decrease the requirements based upon the first week of laddering. The suspect test will last for approximately 2 weeks and will end on Sunday April 12. The vote will take place in roughly one week after that."
     
    Sorry for the double post, but I think I need to update this - the test was, indeed, an April Fools joke. You can go to Smogon's official OU subforum for proof (since links are broken due to the whole af stuff).

    However, I still have one question - is there a chance the OU council might suspect it for real in the future? Because

    "Okay, I think the time has come to reveal the joke. Yes, this suspect test wasn't serious. We aren't crazy, or at least not crazy enough to test something like Giratina-Origin for OU. To make the prank sound more beliveable, we chose to announce the test a few days before April 1st and to actually add a Suspect Ladder with Giratina-O unbanned.

    If anything, during these 2 days of testing we've learnt a few things:
    - Giratina-O might not be as broken as some of us would have thought;
    - some people in this community are literally hysterical;
    - I'm honestly a genius for coming up with such brilliant iead (no, wait, we knew this already);
    - tennisace's puns suck.
    Major shoutouts to those who were able to identify the hidden phrase in the OP, PokefanAidan and Minority Suspect in particular. You guys forced me to stealth edit my post to keep the joke going.

    Thanks to Smogon Senior Staff and to the OU staff team for playing along. This was definitely funny.

    I cracked up for more reasons than one. Fantastic. I wish this happened at least once a month, not just on April Fools Day. Truer entertainment is hard to come by than reading some of the reactions and banter about this within their community.
