Update for Ultimate Monocolor Challenge (Gray).

Started the final leg of my Gray Monocolor in Unova.

Update #1 on White.

Name: Gray
Starter: Oshawott
  • Caught Zolata the Lillipup right away on Route 1, and we were off.
  • Cilan wasn't too difficult, Tackle and Bite are very good at this stage.
  • Continued on to Nancrene City, and after training outside the forest, Zolata evolved into Herdier!
  • Beat N and challenged the gym. Lenora took a couple tries because of crits, but I beat her in the end.
  • Beat up Team Plasma in the forest, then crossed the bridge to Castelia City.
  • In Castelia, I picked up Zorro the Zorua and after saving Bianca'a Munna, I challenged the gym.
  • Burgh was not too hard, Zorro and Zolata combined for the win.
  • Went up to Route 4 and the Desert Resort, where I caught a Sigilyph. Then I went to Nimbasa City and got the Bike.
  • During all this, Zolata evolved into Stoutland!
  • Bred Sigilyph with itself to get a L1 Sigilph and leveled it up to L4, when it learned Hypnosis.
  • Bred it with with a female Pidove, and out hatched Skye the Pidove, with Hypnosis as an egg move.
  • Trained up Skye on some trainers I skipped earlier on Route 4, then went back to Nimbasa City. Skye also evolved into Tranquill!
  • Caught Cashmere the Minccino in Route 5 and went to train some more in the Desert Resort.
  • Then I beat N and challenged the gym. Elesa wasn't too hard since Zolata is a beast right now.
  • Beat Cheren and met Alder, then saved on Route 5.

Finally, I've completed Black!

► I continued my journey through Unova, without anything major happening. I battled Gym Leaders, rivals, the Elite Four, N and Ghetsis. Flamare evolved along the way.
► I started the postgame by catching my final team member, Seviper. I named it Veenak.
► After that, I tried battling the postgame trainers, but they were too tough for me since my Pokémon only were around Lv 53. So I trained my team up to Lv 60, and then 65 because I still had a bit of trouble.
► When the postgame was over, my Pokémon were Lv 70. Then I used my Rare Candies to get them up a few extra levels before challenging the Pokémon League again.
► After selling and buying stuff, it was time to face the Elite Four and Champion. The Elite Four wasn't really hard, but Alder did give me some trouble, mainly with Volcarona. It required a team effort to pull it all the way through to the end.

Platinum Mono-Color Brown Run Update #1

Here's my first update!

-Named myself Brown, started off right away with Umber the Chimchar (I'm reminded of how clever I am every time I see "Umber used Ember!")
-Did all the starting stuff and then proceeded to catch the second member of the team, Wallace the Bidoof, on Route 204. Also caught another Bidoof named Edgar and a Starly named Airbus for later HM slave duty (do I get extra points if my HM slaves are brown as well?)
-Beat Barry on Route 203, Got to Oreburgh, Went north to route 207 and caught myself a Machop. Traded her in town for my third team member, Kazza the Abra. Taught it Return so it had something other than just Teleport.
-Went to Oreburgh Mine and after some dumb complications (burn hax, unwanted crits, accidentally running away) I finally caught the fourth member of the team (did I make this too easy?), Jordan the female Geodude. I gave her a gender neutral name because I feel like a female GeoDUDE would be a bit confused.
-Umber evolved into Monferno at Lv.14! Learned Mach Punch.
-Was Mach Punching Roark to death until a Headbutt from Cranidos I was not prepared for took out Umber, so Jordan had to come in to take it out at a snail's pace. Got the badge, taught Stealth Rock to Jordan as a reward for saving the day.

Platinum Mono-Color Brown Run Update #2

Update #2 : D

-Beat up Team Galactic in Jubilife and then at the Valley Windworks.
-Grinded Wallace to Lv. 15 so he'd evolve into Bibarel and maybe start sucking less.
-Everybody got a bunch of levels in Eterna Forest, including Kazza who, despite ignoring me half the time, got to Lv. 16 and evolved into a Kadabra, learning Confusion (yay). (Forgot to take a screen right away : S)
-Umber single-handedly destroyed the Eternia Gym. Taught Grass Knot to Kazza, who will start listening now :)
-Struggled a bit with Jupiter at Team Galactic HG, but got the job done (why can Zubat learn Giga Drain anyway?)
-Jordan threw a bunch of rocks at birds on Cycling Road
-Went back to Oreburgh Gate, went over some bike ramps and got the TM for Brick Break. Taught it to Umber. Also caught Herman the Psyduck for Flashing purposes (let's hope he doesn't get arrested for sexual harassment)
-Everybody got a bunch of levels exploring Wayward Cave, including Jordan who evolved into a Graveler at Lv. 25!
-Explored the secret part of Waward Cave, went over more bike ramps, and got the TM for Earthquake to make my life easier down the road

Kanto completed!

► I picked Charmander for HM purposes. I soloed with him until I reached Mt. Moon, where
I caught a Clefairy that I named Lollipop.
► Lollipop got through most of Kanto, but I caught GummyBear the Slowpoke to help her out.
► Lollipop and GummyBear were a great combination, and totally dominated Kanto. I did
add something to my team very late though, a Porygon, since I've never
used one before, and don't think I will (in first gen at least). Named it JellyBean.
► JellyBean didn't really come in handy that much, since I decided that I
wanted to use it when I was at Cinnabar. It was OK, but I couldn't get the
best out of it since all the good TMs it could learn had already been used on Lollipop or GummyBear.
► Nontheless, I beat the rest of Kanto, and became the Champion!

Lollipop the Clefable, Lv 62

GummyBear the Slowbro, Lv 62

Update for Ultimate Monocolor Challenge (Gray).

Congrats Chevitile on becoming the third Ultimate champion!

Here's my next update.

Update #2 on White.
  • Crossed the bridge to Driftveil City.
  • While fighting in the Cold Storage, Zorro evolved into Zoroark and Skye evolved into Unfezant!
  • Cleared Team Plasma outta there, then took on the gym.
  • Clay wasn't too difficult, Cashmere was able to beat him with Wake-up Slap and Tail Slap.
  • Continued on to Chargestone Cave, picking up a Shiny Stone on the way, and Cashmere evolved into Cinccino!
  • Got through the cave to Mistralton City, met the other professor, and climbed Celestial Tower.
  • Challenged the gym, and Skyla was handled by Cashmere's Rock Blast.
  • Beat Cheren and got Surf, then went through Twist Mountain.
  • Popped into Icirrus City, then explored the Mistralton and Wellspring caves with Surf.
  • Back in Icirrus City, I took on the gym and won easily with Zorro and Cashmere.
  • Beat up Team Plasma in the Dragonspiral Tower and Relic Castle, and got the Dark Stone.
  • Made my way to Opelucid City, where I took on the gym. Iris was beaten easily by Zolata's Strength.
  • Then I maxed out everyone's EVs, and continued on to Victory Road, beating Cheren along the way.
  • Victory Road wasn't very hard to get through, and I found myself at the Pokemon League.
  • After a little moveset editing, I took them on.
  • Shauntal was soloed by Zorro's Shadow Ball and Night Slash.
  • Caitlin was beaten by Zolata's Crunch and Zorro's Shadow Ball.
  • Grimsley was a team effort, with Cashmere doing the most work.
  • Marshall was beaten by Zolata and Skye.
  • After catching Zekrom, I faced off against N and Ghetsis and beat them. Cashmere and Zorro were the MVPs.
  • The postgame is next.

I shall do this with my favorite color!
Username: MaddogSix
Color: Blue
Games: LeafGreen, SoulSilver, Ruby, Platinum, Black
Ultimate: Yes

Thank you! Also, I'm wondering if I can change from HeartGold to Gold?
I'm having some ROM problems, and I don't want to restart my actual game...which means I'm pretty much stuck with G/S/C when it comes to the Johto sections.

Guys, I'm going to do it. I haven't EVER beaten Black or White, but I just saw that I've got 4/5 of the games down. So I'm actually going to finish my Brown Challenge.

Well, no one answered my question, but I'm just going to assume it's OK, since they're both Johto games anyway.

► I caught a Mareep (named Popcorn) to do the early game until I could get a Jigglypuff. I thought Jigglypuff was first accessible below
Goldenrod, but that's only in Crystal. So I backtracked to Route 46 to catch one, since that's where they're first accessible in G/S. When I
got one, I named it BubbleGum.
► BubbleGum and Popcorn got joined by Milkshake the Miltank and Cake the Corsola later on. At this point, I stopped using Popcorn, since
Ampharos isn't pink and Flaaffy wouldn't be that useful in the game anymore. It did serve well as an HM Slave, though.
With Cake and Milkshake, my team was complete, and I got through both Johto and Kanto quite easily. I did have to use a lot of potions
and revives for the Pokémon League and Red though.

Maybe a bit lacking in details, but oh well...

And then the testing was over......

Back to challenges. When I last left off I was on Ruby Blue run in my ultimate challenge. If I can find my save, I'll start right back off from there. If not then oh well, I'll start over.
