Hi everyone. Does anyone else set themselves weird rules for in-game and battles?

    My rules:
Monotype (1 non-mono allowed but it must be justifiable, e.g Florges in a grass team or Poliwhirl in a fighting
    No repeat items
    No repeat moves
No more than 2 pokemon from the same Gen in a team
    Double Battles

I also came up with a ridiculous rule that forced me to use "unusuable" pokemon. Every pokemon that cannot evolve through its level or friendship has its own team, bar Uber Tier pokemon. Basically anything that would not naturally evolve in a run-through.
Anything from Aipom to Torterra and Panpour to Vespiquen.

I battle mostly on showdown to test and then create the team in egg form then put it in a run-trough.
---Currently a mono fighting type team. Hitmonlee, Hitmonchan, Hitmontop, Riolu, Keldeo and Grapploct

Sweet way to raise the difficulty in Pokemon gaming my dude.

I tried some weird stuff back in the day as well: a "Hiddenlocke" where I'm only allowed to use HMs (that didn't last long lmao), and an "N-locke" where I'd release all my Pokemon after beating a Gym and catch a new set in the upcoming Routes for the next one (sort of like how N always has Pokemon that're only found in the area you're in), then rinse and repeat. I figured the grinding was too much for me so I gave up after the second Gym oof.

I like that N version. That's a cool runthrough way. I tried a similar thing on heart gold where I could only face the gym leader with their type. Worked ok for the first 2 gyms, struggled with whitney as everyone does then with ghost gym, grinding to catch all the gastly. Clair was a very long time trying to get dratinis from the game corner.

    hey Yollaxi, welcome :3c

i've not done a challenge run in a while honestly... my hardest was a first-form only run in X, without using anything evolved. had fennekin, pancham, and espurr and man it was hard haha. gotta finish at some point @_@

Pancham is an interesting one. It doesn't technically evolve naturally so ive tried to fit it in a team. Its just not great with its support set. Taunt, seismic toss, helping hand and parting shot was its move set. Parting shot in doubles was always good. nobody expects a Pancham to be annoying. It used to be there instead of riolu. Pancham parting shot then in comes Hitmontop with intimidate. Could turn a battle.

Hey, welcome. Sometimes if I play through a game a few times I'll do that. I used to do Challenges on here when I was really bored. I never set any unique rules, but I do like Monotype teams. I use to battle Monotype competitively back in the day and complete some Monotype challenges that were fun. Welcome to the site, hope you like it here.

Now this is true hell for me. Question though, does it have to match the type the Gym Leader specializes in specifically, or are you allowed dual typing loopholes? Like with Morty, all his Pokemon are Ghost/Poison, would you be allowed to only use Ghost types, or can you add pure Poison types as well?

Nope. Only ghosts. Plus I couldn't trade pokes so no Gengar. So many haunters…. the most difficult was jasmine. Steel types. I only had magnetons and forretresses
