Update, day 2 of my Mono-Fighting playthrough.

FINALLY beat Bugsy after numerous hours of level grinding. Pory is now level 24. 1 more till it evolves.
Beat the Rival and completed the Farfetch'd puzzle they set up.
Time to search for a Heracross.
    Current team:
Pory the Poliwhirl - Level 25
    Body Slam
    Rain Dance
    Hypnosis
    Bubblebeam

Steve the Heracross - Level 9
    Focus Blast
    Cut
    Horn Attack
    Endure

Pory evolved while fighting Youngster Samuel. Nice!
Now to stop slacking! Off to Route 33 in search of a Heracross!

...ARGH. Got a level 4 Heracross... I swear this game hates me or something. Couldn't think of a nice name so I named him Steve.
Not sure whether I must teach an HM to a Pokemon that can learn it or not. If I have a team Pokemon that can learn a certain HM, can I teach it to an HM slave instead?

Where in the world do I get a Water Stone? I must get one to evolve Pory. D:
"Come first in National Park Bug Catching contest or Pokegear phonecall from a trainer on Route 42." Well, Route 42 is the location of Mankey... So I guess that's my next stop! ...Well, after I fight Whitney... But... I don't have any fighting moves to speak of... This is going to take awhile... Especially with Steve still only at level 6.

All is well! Purchased a Focus Blast TM from the convenient Goldenrod Department Store, and taught that to Steve! Time for some training.

Well, almost at Whitney. With Pory incredibly overlevelled, this shouldn't prove to be too hard...

Gonna slow down the updating for now. Not 100% sure if I'll update again today. I'll probably be substantially further in the game by then. (Substantially further = Ecruteak City. :P)

Yeah, probably not updating again for awhile. Will update with any (previously) important events once I start updating again.
(Lied for a second there.) Just something I thought I'd say before retiring the forums for today/a bit of today. Lyra lied to me. Her Marill did not evolve. D:

    Argh, can't handle not updating.
    Team:

Pory the Poliwhirl - Level 26
    Body Slam
    Rain Dance
    Hypnosis
    Bubblebeam

Steve the Heracross - Level 14
    Focus Blast
    Cut
    Horn Attack
    Aerial Ace

Haven't taken on Whitney quite yet... Want to get Steve to at least level 20 first.

Failing at Whitney too. :P Gonna stop updating for today. Will be back tomorrow after I've made more progress.

Lied... Again. In Ecruteak City. This is - for real - the last update for today. Will be a bit farther by the time I update tomorrow.

  • Well, Today I woke up and saw an old guy in front of me. It was kind of freaky, because I had no idea how he got in my house...Anyway, I told him that I was a boy, and I told him my name, gold. He gave me a bit of a pep talk, told me about unfolding adventure. blah.blah.blah.

I then came out of my room and spoke with my mom, only to find out that i had to do a chore for elm. blah~

I received my toto (So my rival's starter will be grass) and named it HMslave01. It followed behind me and i ignored it for the most part. I began to go north, in the direction of mr. p's place. On the way there I ran into a weedle. it seemed to want to join me, and I felt bad that i dudn't have any pokeballs. I told him that I'd be back, soon.

When i got to mr. pokemon's house, he gave me an egg, and oak gave me a pokedex. whoo! As i left the house, i was called by a frantic Elm. Apparently he needed me right away. I ran back to Cherrygrove and was intercepted by a red-haired boy. I defeated him with ease, and stole his trainer card, chuckling slightly. He realized that i had taken it and panicked, for I knew his name...

When I got back to Elm's place, a police officer was there, and he rudely accused me of being the thief. Right as I was about to blow up on him, Lyra came in and began yelling at him and defending me. Yep, she wants me. I tell them the perp's name, Silver. I then decide to leave and go on my adventure. I tell my mom to save my money, and I tell her that if she spends ANY of it, I'll be really pissed. I leave, but not before lyra shows me a bit on catching pokemon.

I head past cherrywood, and my little weedle is there, just waiting to be caught, but not without a fun battle first! I catch him with ease, and take him back to the pc to heal. I stuck my toto in a box, and decided that it was time to train. I grinded my weedle to level 5, and then went to catch a bellsprout. After watching Little Shop Of Horrors last week, I decided to name it Audrey. I took it to the nearby cave and killed some geodudes, and catching a zubat as well. I meant to name him Drac, but I forgot to. I'll fix that in goldenrod. I then proceeded to take my team of solid 5s to the sprout tower. I slaughtered all of the trainer's pokemon that lived there. I got up to the top floor and was defeated by the first person up there...I needed more training.

I went to the area south of Violet and ran into an Ekans. SCORE! It also has a Docile nature. DOUBLE SCORE! I trained it to level six, and went back to the sprout tower. yay! I defeated everyone there with ease, leveling my pokemon to 7 and 8. I ran to the gym leader falkner, and fought him 3 times before i finally defeated him. ugh I think that i'm taking a break here, It's been a long day...Also, Weedle evolved!

  • Hey guys! its been a while without any update, school is kinda driving me crazy.

    ==================================================
The jist of it :: I have just kicked Red buttom with my Yui/Dragonite/80
I have finished my challenged, but i have not documented it.. im even doing a story for it XD

Here is what i got so far

    ==================================================

With a gym badge under my belt Yui and I proceeded to the next gym location, Azalea and the bug-type gym. We stop to catch our breath at the Pokemon Center located before the Union Cave. After talking and battling a few trainers we went through the cave, with our fire spirits high and with new abilities to match.
It was raining when we got out of the cave, I decided to take Yui to the nearest Pokemon Center and wait for the rain to cease. In the center we once again talked to the trainers and some old folks who got me filled in some rumors. It seemed the Team Rocket was causing trouble at a well.
Yui seemed to get a bit melancholic while we look outside the Center's window. I took the small pokemon an put it on my lap as I sat near the entrance. It was nice with the sound of the rain outside and the warmth of Yui… I fell asleep.
I felt something pulling me off my shirt and woke up to find Yui trying to say something and murmurs in the Pokemon Center about old man Kurt running to beat the Team Rocket. It seemed Yui wanted to help so I got my things and we followed the trail to the well…
Hours later I found myself in Kurt's house, soaked wet and having a good laugh. Those grunts were no match for us, specially no match for Kurt. For my help in the matter, Kurt offered a cup of hot coffe and his service as a pokeball maker.
After spending the night in Kurt's, I decided to take on the bug-type gym. The normal trainers were no match for Yui's new technique, but things changed when we got to the leader. The fight started with my Yui versus a Syther from Bugsy. He used a technique called U-Turn, which critically wounded Yui and switch back to a Kakuna. I believed we could survive the fight after defeating Kakuna since they don't attack, but to my surprised the Kakuna hopped and used tackle… we got defeated. We got to the conclusion it was bad luck and tried it again. Using the same tactics they won another round. Now we were mad, we got some potions and medicines to help us throughout the battle… Syther used Leer, U-Turn and with one shot he defeated us once again…
We noticed that his Syther was far more powerfull than us, but we were not giving up! We spent the following day training like there was no ending to it. I bet we cause a bit of chaos to the wilderness in the outskirts of the city. We now had power and speed to match up to Bugsy!
We went again and there was no holding back. Syther used UTurn and switched back, but we survived, the rest of the pokemons were no match for us, but we went versus Syther again, the real battle. Bugsy noticed the gap in strengths was thin, and he started Leer'ing us. I knew the end was near, and that we coul lose again in the next hit. Neither I nor Yui wanted to lose this time around so we charged full speed towards them. As we were going to make our finishing blow, Bugsy decided to halt us with quick attack…
    My Team:
    Yui / Dratini / 24
    Egg
    Egg

Tries in the Bug Gym ( 1/7 )
    Total badges ( 2/8 )

With a new badge with us, Yui the two eggs and me decided to take on the next challenge! We followed the west route towards Goldenrod, battling trainers along the way and meeting the Day-Care folks, pretty nice people. One thing I found odd was this Kimono girl lost in the Ilex Forest, it's the second time ive seen one…
Now into Goldenrod, I went in the Pokemon Center and rested for a while, thinking about the fight with Bugsy and how will the following gym will turn out.
After going to the Radio Station and picking a new radio card I went to the Gym, which turn out to be a walk in the park…
    My Team:
    Yui/ Dratini/ 25
    Egg/
    Egg/

    Tries ( 1/1)
    Total Badged ( 3/8 )

When the fight ended the Leader started to cry, after that o felt a rumbling on my back which turned to be another of my egg hatchin. The crying suddenly stop by the sounds of one cute little cloud-bird. While Witney holded and giggle at his cuteness I pulled out my PokeDex to check it out, it was Swablu: a bird pokemon that would later evolve into a dragon. Mugi, as the leader started calling my Swablu, came hopping to me with what seemed to be a smile on his face. It looked like the ours spent walking already made a bond between us.
With Witneys comment about training Miu as soon as possible, I went out the road to the next Gym battle, Ecruteak City
On our way to the city I started using Mugi for some battles. That turned out not so well because of the diference of experience of the pokemons I was facing. We decided to go back to the first strategy, taking things one step at a time. After a few hours, I could clearly see some improvement in Mugi, and even more inprovment in Yui, who seemed to enjoy every bit of mentoring.
Without noticing I was already falling asleep at the park. Yui and Mugi noticed it and went close to me to take a nap; I took the remaining egg and placed it on my lap as I sat. I think it was just dreams but I could swear I hear Yui and Mugi speaking to me, it was not English, but I understood… Then I heard that same melodic voice, it sounded happier than the first night, like she felt proud of my success… Then I hear another voice and I woke up to found who it was. There was a Bagon on my lap intead of the egg! The last one hatched… I named her Ritsu
After the not so needed introduction to the rest of the team I noticed how Yui wanted to go back to Goldenrod. It was like we left something unattended. Following that hunch and back in Goldenrod, I let Yui take the lead and directed me where he wanted to go... It saddened me what I found out. It seemed the Casino was offering pokemons as a price for wining… and one of those prices was a female Dratini! Yui and I put up our gaming bandana and decided to free her out of there, the official way… gambling…
It was four days later and I walked out of Goldenrod with four Pokemon in my team, a gym to challenge and a lot of training to do!

    My Team:
    Yui/ Dratinin/ 25
    Mugi/ Swablu/ 15
    Ritsu/ Bagon/ 10
    Azunyan/ Dratini/ 15

    Badges (3/8)
Days to get the second Dratini ( 3 )
I thought that my worst enemy was that Syther with U-turn… but that was until I met Morty, his Gengar and Shadow Ball. After a few tries at his gym me and my team decided to go for some serious training. I specifically wanted all of them to have the same level of experience. I don't want any member of my team to feel lower than the rest. Keeping them the same level turned out to be a difficult task, especially with Yui who wanted to keep going at all times. On the other hand the most problematic was Mugi, that was not a dragon yet and that kept her at a disadvantage from the rest.
After a day full of training we head out to the dance theater to watch the Kimono girls. To our surprise there was a Team Rocket member harassing her. We decided to stop him! The thing is most of my team was pretty weak from all that training and couldn't hold a single battle. At the end it was just Yui and me, like the first time. We handled the situation swiftly and to the surprise of all we all witnessed a pokemon evolution, a first for me. Now I have a beautifull and wonderful Dragonair in my arsenal, not to mention a friend larger than myself!
Is it enough to say that Morty's Gengar was no match!?
    Team:
    Yui/Dragonair : 30
    Mugi/ Swablu: 27
    Ritsu/ Bagon: 28
    Azunyan/Dratini: 20

    Badges (4/8)

Did I mention I do not recall where I got the HM Surf? Now with the new badge I have access to it, we decided to go to the next gym in Olivine because there I can try it out!
A lot happened, we trained, got some more evolutions, surfed like there is no tomorrow, help save an Ampharos and won two new badges like it was nothing… it happened so fast I don't recall much details of it!
    Team:
    Yui/Dragonair : 32
    Mugi/ Swablu: 30
    Ritsu/ Shelgon: 30
    Azunyan/Dratini: 25

    Badges (6/8)

Now the good stuff happens. In Olivine city they tell me about a gym in Mahogany that will prove a challenge for me: the Ice Gym, my worst nightmare. I decided to go and watch the Lake of Rage on the way, new places to surf!
I noticed my radio was acting strange as I approached the place, but it started getting weird with the behavior of the townsfolk, something seemed to be fake. I ran to the Lake in a hunch to encounter what seemed to be fate, another Dragon Tamer. Why I knew that (besides the part with the Dragonite by his side)? I don't know. I approached him with my Yui following me. He acknowledge my presence and smiles like he was up to something. He knew my name, and I think I knew his before he told me… Lance explained that some radio signal was making the pokemon evolve forcefully and I decided to help stopping that!
A few hours later and we tore the place apart. I knew that sometimes I was a handful to Team Rocket… but I guess to Dragon Tamers was not good for them…

Legendarian Mistress is allowed to in-game trade for the Onix.

Umm, Legendarian Mistress, I don't remember being allowed to trade... I don't think in-game trades are allowed. :l

I don't remember NOT BEING allowed to in-game trade.

Rule #5 refers to trading between two games for things such as trading over a lvl 56 metagross or something of the sort just because it makes your steel challenge easier. Nah, don't think so homie.

._. Oh, in that case, cool. (Didn't exactly know what you meant by no trading in the first post. That's the only reason I brought it up.) Now I have another Fighting-type to get. :D

Oh wait, does that mean I can have a friend trade me some random Pokemon with an Evolutionary item, then I trade that Pokemon back? Or is that not included?

    --On topic.
Real quick update, not a large one.

Demolished Ecruteak Gym, traded a Drowzee for Muscle the Machop in Goldenrod.

Team (Just levels this time. I don't see the point in posting moves. The only move changes were some HMs.)
Pory the Poliwhirl - Level 29 (Just beat the fisher who finds waterstones, so it'll be a Poliwrath soon. Bout time.)
Aaron the Mankey - Level 15
Muscle the Machop - Level 10
Steve the Heracross - Level 23

Cya tomorrow for a full update.

It would've been a Water Stone, but I got one from Fisherman Tully. Not gonna evolve Pory at the moment, though.

    Anyways...

    --UPDATE
    Day 3

Not gonna be much today, since I'm 1, stuck on Chuck, 2, Incredibly underlevelled, so today is really just gonna be a grindfest.

Team is pretty much the same as last time, but:
Pory the Poliwhirl - Level 29
Muscle the Machop - Level 12
Aaron the Mankey - Level 16
Steve the Heracross - Level 24

Probably won't update much today, because I am generally lazy about that stuff, so it'll only be things like Gym leader wins and possibly evolutions.

Just remembered Steve had Aerial Ace. Must train him more.

Got Aaron and Muscle to level 20... I need to get all of them to 30, though... So, yeah. Not gonna be much updates today.

Ugh, sick of training... Aaron is level 21 and Muscle is still just 20...
Might as well try the Gym now.

Got a lucky Critical and OHKO'd Chucks Poliwrath. Jasmine is going to be easy.

Gonna stop for today. I know it wasn't much progress today, but I'm kinda tired of playing for hours and hours... Maybe a badge or long event a day. That's all that's necessary...

  • Accidentally deleted my Ground type Monotype challenge information, but it doesn't matter. I arrived back in Ecruteak, with a level 23 Nidorino, and level 26 Quagsire and Onix. I'd already decided that if I lost to Morty even just once, I'd restart and do the Normal type Monotype challenge.

So, you want to know how I went...?

    I lost.

    Restarted last night.

    Edit # 1:

I think I'm gonna take a small break, if that's ok. I'll be back on Sunday or Monday. :\ Not that I don't enjoy it, it's just starting to get tedious. (Although, I must admit, I kind of expected that from the start - using only one type.) (Watch me make a liar out of myself and update tomorrow. :P)

OK, yeah, not updating today, will be back soon though.

It's all good. I took a break during my Ice challenge and then came back to beat the E4 and get 8 more badges.

Just make sure to come back =P

  • Well, seeing as I now have a rival for the Normal-type Mono-Challenge, I figure I better start updating on a near-daily basis again, so here's my update. Sorry about the delay though. I was wrestling with DeSmuME for an hour last night, trying to get all my DS ROMS to open with DeSmuME rather than no$gba. What a pain that was.

    • Grabbed my trusty Cut and Flash slave, Bellsprout, and my insane Surf killer croc, Totodile, out of the PC boxes I dropped them in and put them in my party. Miltank and Togetic are sitting this one out.
    • ...Found a Raikou in the tall grass. No, I am not shitting you. After a single day of running, Raikou decided to chill out just barely south of Ecruteak. Almost caught it too, with the first Ultra Ball I threw. Got three shakes before it burst out. Not like it would have mattered though, since I can't use it anyway.
    • Trekked back to the Bike Shop, because I lost my last Bicycle.
    • Rode my Bicycle all the way back to Violet City, made a right turn, and entered Dark Cave.
    • After entering Dark Cave, I realized that my sprite self was gone. Not gone as in dead, but he's invisible now. That makes traversing this damn cave a real *****. Thank God for Max Repels.
    • Oh ****ing son of a **** eating dick! I need Strength now!? ARE YOU ****ING KIDDING ME!? What, did Game Freak decide that they are going to keep Teddiursa from everyone until after Olivine? This is real ****ing ********. I dragged my ass to Violet City for nothing.
    • On Route 37, I found Entei. Are you just ****ing kidding me now? What am I gonna find next, a ****ing Latias? Ultra Ball didn't catch it, it ran away, and I still don't give a ****.
    • Went back to Route 38, and beat every Trainer there, because I know they had a hand in denying me my Teddiursa.
    • Got a call from the Bike Store Manager, saying that, since I gave him a lot of advertisement, he's been selling a lot more Bicycles. He said he was going to give me a gift, and then tells me the Bicycle was the gift. Are you serious? I was going to keep this Bike regardless of whether or not you got good business from it. I want my cut of the profits, you parasitic-prick!
    • ...Damn ROM crashed on me again. You know what? **** the Bicycle this time, and **** Teddiursa. I'm not going through that ******** again, ever. Teddiursa can wait until Blackthorn, and if it can't, it can go **** itself. Stupid ****ing ROM.
    • Met Silver again. I'm so tempted to just knock him out with Tauros and dump his body in the ocean. Not like anyone would miss him, the little bastard that he is.
    • ****ing emulator closed out on me for no reason, so I'm stopping for the day before I become so enraged that I destroy my computer. I'm not posting my team this update either.
Edit: Stupid damn server was busy. Today is just not a good damn day for me. That better turn around quick, or I'm going to have so serious ****ing rage-fits. The ones that involve me having to stand before a judge and plead insanity.

I don't feel like doing the challenge anymore, I'm gonna withdraw.
Reason being, I haven't beaten Kanto yet, and the Monotype was fun for a while, but I just don't feel like it anymore. Sorry :/

Besides, 1HKOing every single one of the Elite Four's Pokemon with a LV.64 Adamant Gyarados is just so much more satisfying for me.

Maybe I'll get back into it later, in a new file. But when I do, I am definately doing water or flying so I can have Gyarados again.
