I think I'll do Bug instead. The thought of being unable to trade for so many good pokemon (namely Steelix/Scizor/Kingdra) (for Dragon/Steel) just makes me lost interest.
Plus, Bug is probably a challenge. I don't think I'm gonna use Heracross. :)

I've always wanted to do one of these but have never had the time.. here's my application. :D

I'll be starting off with a Cyndaquil and EV training it like crazy on Unown's before I beat Falkner in order to get attack up for Whitney later on. Falkner and Bugsy will be no sweat whatsoever. When I get to Goldenrod, I'll be catching a Ditto to breed myself another Cyndaquil, then I'll be training it up to around level 20 or so, the other to about level 25-30. After Whitney I'm hoping to get a Magmar from the Burnt Tower and a Growlithe right before Ecruteak City. I don't know if I'm remembering correctly, but by this time Bill should be back at his house offering an Eevee now, so I'll be heading back to Goldenrod to pick up the Eevee, and hopefully have a Fire Stone at this point in order to evolve it into a Flareon. At this point, I will continue with this team until after all of Johto's gyms are defeated, then I'll have access to Houndour, which will be the last one I get for my team.

This is going to be difficult. I'll keep you all updated. :)

Here's update 1. Trying to make it as interesting as possible without pictures yet.

Update #1

- Started a New Game.
- Named myself Emoxy (this is actually the first time I'm using this name!)
- Got through all the instructions, bag, save, trainer card and options.
- Saw this weird looking red-haired guy standing outside Professor Elm's lab.
- Stood behind him just to get a good look of who he is.
- Oh, he's rather handsome. (I'm not gay.)
- Went into Professor Elm's lab.
- Chose Totodile, because he learns HM1345678. Cool stuff.
- Named my new friend Draco. RAWRR!!
- Seriously, what's with Pokemon names having ALL CAPS? It looks stupid.
- Oh! The lab guy gave me Potions.
- "Pokemon are weak in the beginning. Don't hesitate to use potions if you think yours is in danger." What crap? They are not weak.. :( They just need some love.
- Got my PokeGear! Changed the theme to the 5th one.
- Got Professor Elm's number. Seriously, I would want that cool red hair guy's number.. (No, I'm not gay.)
- "'!' Your Pokemon has a flower petal on its face!"
- "Draco doesn't seem used to its own name yet." This one made me laugh.
- "Ready Draco? We're gonna venture into.. the grass!"

Alright, things are moving along nicely.

I spent some time grinding my smoochum up to level 11, so it learned powder snow. I then demolished Falkner, and leveled up my Smoochum even further.

Finally, on my way to the union cave, my lapras egg hatched. I spent some time training it, now it's quickly turning into quite the tank. After clearing Team Rocket out the slowpoke well, I saved.

I'm about to fight Bugsy, and I'm fairly confident I'll win.

Are we allowed to import Eggs for Fire-type? You can get a Magby early using the Pokewalker, a Magmar in Burned Tower/Safari Zone, Numel (with Hoenn Sound), a Slugma from Primo, the Fire-type Starter Pokemon, Houndour in the Safari Zone, and a few others in Kanto.

Well, if you're using Cyndaquil as your starter, you can obviously keep it, since this is a Fire-type Challenge. I'm just checking to make sure that you're allowed to import Eggs for Fire-type because, if you can, I think that's the type I want to do next.

I'm pretty sure he told someone else no on the importing of fire types. Someone had asked previously about importing a Charmander and I do believe he was told that was a no go.

Since you're doing Steel-type, you're allowed to import two Eggs of your choosing, so your request is approved.

No, we've got all your info. All we needed was your User-name (which we can see), your version (HeartGold), and your team (which you're not too sure of yet, right?).

No problem, EJ. I was just checking the thread for new recruits, and I noticed the 'Fire-type import Eggs', so I checked it out.

I found a Charmander in the Wild once...
