— Started game
— Chose male character, named self Ethan
— Chose a Totodile, didn't nickname
— Named rival Randy
— Got Pokédex
— Caught a level 2 male Spearow on Route 46, nicknamed Vince (Quirky nature, dunno what that does as far as stats are concerned... can someone shed some light on that for me, please?)
— Captured a level 3 male Sentret on Route 29, nicknamed Jono (Serious nature... a little help, someone?)
— Grinded both Vince and Jono on Route 30 until they reached level 7, am now gonna crush the trainers leading up to Violet City
— Defeated all of the trainers on Routes 30/31
— Healed my Pokémon in the Violet City Pokémon Centre and headed towards Route 32 to level grind some more, hopefully to level 13

Update # 2:

— Being an impatient person, I was only able to get Vince and Jono to level 9 before I went and challenged Sprout Tower
— Defeated Sprout Tower; Vince and Jono are level 11
— Onto the Violet City Gym to crush those Flying type trainers, including Falkner himself
— Falkner's junior trainers were owned, but I lost to Falkner twice. Am currently on Route 32 grinding to level 15
— Vince and Jono both reached level 13, and handily crushed Falkner's Pidgey and Pidgeotto (Yeah, I know I said I wanted them at level 15, but my impatience reared its head again). Received the Togepi Egg and am wandering aimlessly back and forth in Violet so it can hatch
— Togepi hatched, nicknamed him King. Have grinded him to level 6, hopefully that'll be enough for the trainers on Route 32
— Pwned all of the trainers on Route 32, moved onto Union Cave where I kicked Hiker Daniel's arse as well as a couple of wild Pokémon's butts. After crushing a Zubat, Jono evolved. However, the game glitched and I had to start over from that patch of grass near Union Cave with a... yep, you guessed it — a level 14 Sentret. Luckily, it didn't take too long for Jono to evolve again.
— I taught Jono Rock Smash and am still grinding in Union Cave
— Reached Azalea Town and healed my Pokémon

@emoxy: Scyther is still an amazing pokemon without evolution. He has a really good attack and speed stat.

Haha yup, 110/105 iirc. Scizor actually is slower than him, though I guess Bullet Punch covers up for that.

Quick update...

I beat Whitney after grinding both my Lapras and my Smoochum to level 22 (still wasn't easy...rollout messed up Smoochum, and Lapras barely managed to tank it) and then I BOOKED it to ecruteak, to talk to bill. Got the eevee back in goldenrod, and I caught a ditto. I hatched an eevee egg, since I hate raising pokemon from high levels. I then sent my level 1 eevee over to pearl, and used a rare candy on the snowy route, and evolved it into a glaceon. Sent it back, and now I'm grinding to raise it up...I already am in love heh.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think I made a big mistake choosing Smoochum as my egg choice. I mean, I can't get Sneasel anywhere except Mt. Silver, correct? I believe you don't have access there until you have all 16 badges, no? Someone please tell me I'm wrong, lol, otherwise I won't be able to get one I guess.

Well, didn't get through much today as my gf was over for the past 6 hours. So I only got to Route 30, but that's fine. :) Cyndaquil is at level 5 still, going to train it solely on Pidgey's to level 8 or 9. The reason for only training on Pidgey's is for the Speed EV's. After that I'll take on my rival, battle my way to Violet, then completely finish EV training my Cyndaquil on Unown's - 252 Attack EV's/252 Sp. Attack EV's. Then I'm going to plow through Falkner and Bugsy, as Cyndaquil will probably be in the high teens, if not the low twenties.

So yeah, those are my plans so far. :) I'll probably play a bit longer before I go to bed.. if I do, I'll update here. ^_^

You'd be able to get a Magikarp soon after the first badge. :P Plus, you can get a Wooper on Route 32. :)

You can get the Wooper even before you beat the first gym, however you'd have to wait on the Magikarp for right before Union Cave when you get the Old Rod in the Pokemon center. So yeah, just my two cents, if it helps at all. ^_^

Well, I decided to try and use a ROM... I'm kinda worried it'll crash, but that's what saving is for, right? By the way, I chose Normal, due to the fact that I'd lose 2 party members had I continued with Steel on the ROM. (Steelix and Scizor. I will still be doing a Steel-type playthough after this one (I don't mind in the slightest, since this is a good way to spend my time. Y'know, makes the weeks go faster for me, which is a good thing.), and after I get THE EGGS. It's taking my friend literally forever. :L) So yeah! I'm excited that I finally get to re-do this/do this. Hopefully, the ROM doesn't be stupid and start lagging. (I checked though, and I don't get lag where I normally got lag, so yeah...)

As for my team, I'm already 100% sure I'm using a Dunsparce named Awesome. Because Dunsparce is awesome. :l

So yeah guys, I'll see you in about 5 weeks once I find Dunsparce with the 1% encounter rate in Dark Cave! (Once I get there in the game that is. I'll probably start tomorrow, if not today.)

You can get Poliwag with an Old Rod on Route 31. I know, because I used one in my Fighting run. But just to let you know, the 5% encounter rate will drive you insane.

ah, I didn't even know you could get it on Route 31. I'm pretty sure the encounter rate on 32 is a lot higher than 5%, though. :)
