Monster MMORPG "Better than Pokemon" ...LOL

This isn't an attempt to advertise, this is simply a thread to put the community together for a good laugh at a not-so-humble MMORPG​

Once upon a time, in the time where I didn't know about a Pokemon Online, Pokemon Showdown, and didn't own a Wii to play Battle Revolution online; I was craving an online game that would be like Pokemon.

When I googled a Pokemon Online game, I stumbled on to this:

I admit, I was curious, despite the pretty uninspired Fakemon that scared me straight from being a genwunner to someone who learned to appreciate Pokemon, so I checked out the website, registered, and tried out the "game".

Now, a little history about the game:
It was originally meant to be an online game about Pokemon, but for some reason (That I don't remember) they stopped, so instead of trying to make something a bit more original, they resorted to making the game look as much as a rip-off of Pokemon as much as possible!

Anyways, as I was saying, I tried out the game, I was greeted with a screen to choose out of 16 (I think, don't remember how many, there were a lot.) starters.
I decided to check out the "MonsterDex" to see what I would get, and once I did.. well.. it was pretty bad.

For one thing, the monsters are HORRIBLY inconsistent.

Sometimes it looks like they are trying to be Pokemon:

Sometimes it looks like they are trying to be Yu-Gi-Oh or Naruto:

And sometimes it's trying to be Monster Hunter:

In fact it pretty much looks like the artists have never met each other.

Other than that, the monsters were pretty horribly named too.
I bet you'll never guess what that fox thing is named.

Is it named Kyunex?


No.


Is it named Talozdor?

No.

Is it named something cool at all?

No.

Yes, one of the "Ancient Ones" has the name of a school dork.

I'll admit though, some of them are pretty cool looking Fakemon, like this:

And um...yeah, that's the only one that caught my eye...

Anyways, other than the bad designs, the other thing that really made me laugh was the game play, that claims to be words like "Addicting", "Fun" "Better than Pokemon Online games".

The game play is pretty much moving your character across pretty generic looking maps that were obviously ripped from Pokemon sprites.
The movement itself consists of your character disappearing, and appearing on another tile, very very slowly.

It looks decent, but it's not. The screen is very small compared to the web browser, and it can't be made bigger. Also getting to another area makes your screen constantly have to refresh.

If you managed to survive walking and not getting bored, you'll eventually find yourself in a battle screen that is...this:

No sound effects, no little animations, no sprites, nada.
I actually wouldn't mind not having the animations, because that's exactly how Pokemon Online is, but really.
They came up with more Fakemon than Pokemon in a much shorter time, why don't they instead make sprites for a more interesting battle screen?

In all fairness, it's a pretty "meh" attempt to make a Fakemon Online game, but when they started claiming to be "better than Pokemon", they really deserved this rant.

So, a question to real Pokemon Fans:
Is this game better than Pokemon?

Oh, and a little anecdote:
Take a look at their Youtube Tutorial, and check out the comments. I am more than sure that they PAY people to say good things about their game.

It's a petty attempt by random companies to get people to play their games. I see ads like this on facebook all the time, it's just marketing towards the typical masses of consumers.
Something else. That Leacheon looks like it's some sort of Eeveelution. Have you tried reverse image searching some of those mons via a website such as TinEye? With the design inconsistencies and the poor animation, I really wouldn't be surprised if many of those sprites were stolen from random artists.

EDIT: Eh, after more research, apparently the monster designs seem to be donated by random artists. Which explains why the style is so erratic.

Hmm.. not that bad if it's done by a single coder (Although I sorta doubt that), but claiming to be better than Pokemon and all of the other stuff certainly isn't a good thing.
Also this guy really seems to focus more on quantity than quality..

I am the only coder. There is no other coder. And yes i focus on quantity. Better than pokemon sentence is used for multiple purposes.


But in this thread the written things are very poor.

Since this is a low budget indie mmorpg game which is being developed only by me, i am planning to have mixed type of monsters. This allows me to collect high quality monsters from talented artists. I only use monster images which i got explicit permission from the drawer artist.

well that is correct. but in my case i don't have budget to get everything done as professional. i have to get help from talented artists

also our game quality is not very bad. actually we have a lot of advanced things from other pokemon online games

First thing's first, this is NOT about Pokemon at ALL. Second, this is incredibly rude to this guy's hard work. Get over it. It looks like Pokemon, it looks like YGO. Just don't play it. There is no need to sit here and attack the website, especially in the wrong forum. Hell, there's no where on PC where you can do this.
