Kind of confused as to why anyone would want to see that. Things like nationality, age, and possible post-count are subjects in the other polls section - there's no official statistic mainly because there's no real need.

With all this, and thread information, we've got plenty of easy data. :) Try clicking on the number of replies when in forum view (on the right hand side) and it will even tell you who has posted the most in that thread!

Possibly for curiousity's sake. I know for one somebody wants to know more about the community statistics when boredom is prominent. Besides, it's only by being curious about today's birthdays did I find out that there are more than 20 members who have their birthdays today, even though only five are on display.

I dunno, I find numbers interesting. It's not invading anybody's privacy and it lets us know more about ourselves ;P

I'm not really interested in peak activity hours, average member/guest ratio, nationalities, or age, but I would really like more statistics on a member's contributions to an individual forum. It would really help with selecting moderators.

I'd want more top poster statistics.
At the bottom of the page you could have:
Top posters within the last 24 hours
Top Posters within the last month
Top Posters within the last year
    Top Posters all time.

One of the things I miss most about being an admin is being able to see lots of statistics whenever I had the whim to look them up, haha. I'd love a page that aggregates the stats once a day (or even once a week if there's too much to pull together that often) and shows a bunch of things. I love that sort of stuff, even if it's not useful in the slightest to most people.

A staple statistic would be "Sydian has too many posts and no life." Anyway, I think it's a cute weekly idea.

You would know better than most, of course, but I spontaneously feel like there should be more/other things to consider when doing that. But I digress.

As for loads of statistics, didn't we use to have much more at the bottom of the forum index for a while? If I remember correctly, Audy took them away in an attempt to speed up the server and voila - it worked. Not sure curiosity weighs enough to be worth slowing things down again.

That's why I suggested having static statistics on a separate page (and refreshed only once a day or once a week). Part of the problem with having extra stats on the main page is that every time anyone refreshes/visits the page, a query is sent to calculate and display each stat. People wouldn't be checking a stats page nearly as often so it wouldn't be as big a strain.

There are more/other things to consider, but its still helpful and important to know how much someone contributes to a particular forum.

What do you mean by that, though? Just how often they post? How would you collect that information in a faster/more convenient way than you can already look it up?

I mean, to do it now I guess you have to advanced search their name within the forum, sort by posts (and restrict the date, if you want recent/relevant contributions), and then count the posts and do the averages yourself. How would you even streamline that though? Like, I know this way isn't overly simple but I can't really think of a way you could simplify it further. I guess display averages above the search that are automatically calculated when the search is generated but it would seem really out of place and I can't think of where that kind of information could relevantly be put otherwise. :x
