So yeah I'm a bit challenged when it comes to finding good music. I listen to Iron Maiden Black Sabbath and Metallica mostly with a bunch of 80s songs for the hell of it. I also have the entire discography of rise against as they are the only punk group I can stand. So yeah any ideas what else I can listen to?(as a note I have some manowar megadeth and such so don't recommend those groups)

Go listen to The Deftones, Distrubed, and if you're feelin' real sparky, try Underoath and Otep.

If you like hard rock/heavy metal from the 70's & 80's then maybe you could try Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Mötley Crüe and Mötorhead.
You might also like Rush, although they're not quite as heavy. I'd recommend The Stooges aswell, they have a more garage rock sound.

I agree with what mostly Vendak said, but I'd like to add in if you like a few screamo songs and the like, I recommended Annotations of an Autopsy.

    Yep done that.

Have a listen to Pantera and Thrice.
    Forgot about them....

And I already did this. I had to go for my parents to get answers like this. XD

Dream Theater, Opeth. Maybe Mercenary and Evergrey also. I'd also check out Alexisonfire if you enjoyed older Thrice and Underoath.

    Maybe venture outside of rock/metal/punk/etc...??
I use to listen one genre of music and one genre ONLY. Then I started to broaden my horizons and listen to all sorts of music and believe me, best thing I ever did!

Expand your narrow horizons and head outside of your genre. If your mind is not open to that, I suggest you go to last.fm, type in your favorite artists, and look at their similar artists.

O hai, didn't see you thar, THIS.

August Burns Red, Children of Bodom, Sepultura (definitely if you're a Metallica fan), and Dream Theater.

And if you're really hoping to go out on a limb... Job For A Cowboy and White Chapel. "Entombment of a Machine" (by JFAC) will let you get a feeling for the heavier metal that's out there.

Like other people said, try to listen to other music. I listen to almost every genre of music, and I have found you get a better appreciation for music in general if you broaden your horizons.

you'll probably like one of my favorite bands which is Children of Bodom and you listen to some great music Original Poster

Yeah I forgot about Bodom. So then thanks for the help you guys and I am not moving away from these Genres.

If you are into sort of melodic metal you should head twords the Scandinavian bands such as bodom, however, I have a perfect band for you if you do like melodic metal.
They are the kings of the genre, "In Flames". You might want to differenciate between thier newer work and thier older as thier older music is a little more heavy and loose.
However if you named some specific genres I could probably find a good band or two from each to suit your taste.

I suggest old ones like Guns 'n Roses, Judas Priest, and the newer ones like, Apocalyptica, 3 days grace, Alice in Chains, Prince, srry cant remember anymore...

Go to Pandora, its an internet radio station that plays music in the same genre and style as you like
I found almost all the bands I like using it, great utility

Mitchy, u need to open your mind to different genres. Jeffree Star is amazing if you can get over his lyrics speaking to men.

As has been said, broadening your horizons can only help.

The term 'good music' comes ridden with ridiculous amounts of bias; most will argue that heavy rock goth death hard-grind-death-teddy bear-rawr-elitistcore metal techno is the best genre EVAR and will bash you into bloody submission if you so much as hesitate to agree with them. (Music is incredibly serious business to some; that's all I'm going to say. You've been warned.)

Half-troll aside, I like A Day To Remember, Nightwish, and a few others who I can't remember at the moment.

Most metalheads also enjoy them some rave-ridden techno. Search anything by DDR; you should be able to pick something you like out of there. (For me, I find "Stamp On The Ground" by the Italobrothers to be just fantastic, but again, that could be just me.)

If you're a fan of Rise Against, you also might enjoy Avenged Sevenfold; though I don't, I hear a lot of good things from a lot of people about them and I can't seem to help drawing a comparison despite the difference between them.

    I hope I helped. :)
