Hi. I woke up this morning and suddenly I had an urge to start competitive battling but then I thought that I'm actually running to a battlefield with random pokemon that I like having and actually not thinking about it. So what I want is help from you guys so that I can learn more about these things. Like: Things to keep in mind, Meta(what is good and what is not), items to be held.

Hope you guys can help me.

Ok, since I already have this thread I'd put it here anyway.
My dream team will consist of :
    Gengar
    Infernape
    Dragonite
    Tyranitar
    Greninja
    Mawile

Now, I need help with movesets and EV training like for Gengar what should i EV train him on? stuff like that. Pokemon suggestions would be great. Oh yeah and put Items too :D

I don't think Tyranitar and Dragonite should be on the same team together, as Sand Stream will chip away at Dragonite's health, making Multiscale useless (Multiscale only works when Dragonite is at full health).

    Gengar:
    -Shadow Ball
    -Sludge Bomb
    -Focus Blast/Thunderbolt
    -Destiny Bond
    Nature: Timid

A substitute for Tyranitar is Mandibuzz, Skarmory or Excadrill, as both have access to hazard-clearing moves in Defog or Rapid Spin, respectively:

Thank you very much, Platinum Dude for this very detailed explanation. I tried them and they all worked great. However, I seem to be having so much luck with the Stalling Gliscor with Toxic, Sub, Protect, and EQ. I also got myself a Scizor and is also workig very well since this fairy type is a new thing to me. Added questions are: Scizorite or Life Orb? Mega Evolve Mawile or Scizor? Also, I think I'll keep Tyranitar. My Infernape has Poison Jab, should I ge another move or should I stick with it? Thanks again for the feedback. And sorry for late reply.

That's because SubToxic Gliscor is ridiculous. Infernape doesn't need Poison Jab because its Fire typing makes it neutral to Fairy attacks; STAB Flare Blitz hits 'em hard enough anyway. You'll want Life Orb (or Leftovers if running the bulky SD set) on Scizor because Mawile needs its mega stone in order to not suck.

Thank you btw for that wonderul Gligar. I did see a vid on Utube that scizor just needs the xtra bulk on his mega to set up for his SD. I'll fix my Infernape since I accidentally captured some mons with Infer. being in my team. It got messed up on EVs. Thanks again.

Bump. I got a Shiny 5IV Eevee (thanks RNC) and I really dont know what to evolve it to. Anysuggestions would be appreciated.

Sylveon and Umberon are popular stallers, boasting incredible Sp. Def (Umberon also has good Def) and reliable restoration, with good movepools to chip away at the enemy. Espeon and Jolteon are notable sweepers as well. However, I can't really recommend any good sets, as I haven't gotten them. Looking up good sets on Smogon will give you some (and it's also where PD gets his info). The other evolutions aren't exactly notable, but whatever floats yer boat.

I agree that Espeon and Sylveon (and Umbreon to a lesser extent) are good choices for Eeveelutions. Not so much Jolteon. It's not so boss anymore because of its limited movepool and the weather nerf. It's best niche, while a little predictable, is as a fast Specs Thunder spammer. That doesn't work so well anymore.

Vaporeon is another good choice. It has decent mixed bulk and healing options:

    -Vaporeon w/Leftovers
    Nature: Bold
    Ability: Water Absorb
    EVs: 252 HP, 248 Defense, 8 Sp.Defense
Moves: Scald, Wish, Protect, Toxic/Heal Bell

    And sets for Sylvie:
    -Sylveon w/Leftovers
    Nature: Bold
    Ability: Pixilate
    EVs: 252 HP, 244 Defense, 12 Speed
Moves: Hyper Voice, Wish, Protect, Heal Bell/Toxic

    or

    -Sylveon w/Leftovers
    Nature: Modest
    Ability: Pixilate
    EVs: 252 HP, 252 Sp.Attack, 4 Defense
Moves: Hyper Voice, Shadow Ball, Calm Mind, Hidden Power Fire or Ground/Psyshock

Thank you Both for ur suggestions.
