It's not completely broken, but the screen can't hold itself up. I don't know what to do, and I want to hear your guys' opinions of what I should do.

    Options:
1.) Suck it up, and wait for it to break completely.
2.) Buy a new DS lite.
3.) Buy a DSi (So far, I am liking this idea a lot.)

    Tell me what you think.

EDIT: And won't I have to start all over on Pearl and Platinum since they treat the DS and card as a set?

That happened to my original DS. I dealt with it for a long time and then finally wanted to buy a Lite. I bought the Lite and within a couple months they announced the DSi. Buy the DSi while it's still fresh! But keep your Lite for when you want to Palpark.

That's actually what I was thinking, and I think it's a great idea because I can then transfer pokemon between my Pearl and Platinum games without needing someone else to help me. And it will only take me like two months to save up for a DSi, since I get pretty nice paychecks, and I have no bills or anything since I'm still in high school.

If you did nothing to it and you cant see any cosmetic damage, you could get it fixed through your warranty if it is affect still. You could put super glue into the hinge so it will stay open, but it wont close any more. Get a DS Lite though, that way you can play GBA games, and there is no real "OMFG MUST GETZORZ" things about the DSi in my opinion. But I say, try anything to make it stay up before buying a new one.

My hinge broke on mine, I just put super glue where the bolt that allows for closing in then super glue it back on. I ended up shattering the super glue inside the hinge enough to make it be able to open and close normally, I just got lucky though.

But closing it is half the reason why it's so nice. If I'm going somewhere, I usually just fold it and put it in my pocket. And I will still have the old one like Kiyoshi pointed out, so I can still use Pal Park.

Well you could try and do what accidentally happened to me (details at buttom of post before, I edited before noticing you posted)

I just don't even want to try it, I might as well get a new one. I have no warranty left, and if I try to fix it I will just make it worse.

And as for getting a lite, I don't really even play the GBA games, and I can always trade people for those pokemon anyway. I honestly would rather have the DSi.

You could either take out the warrenty and bring it to the shop. Or get it fixed. Simple

Well I got it three years ago, so I basically have no warranty anymore. Plus, I live in an area where the only repair shop is a gun repair/hunting gear repair shop. >.>

Well won't you need to travel to buy one also? it'd be just as easy to get it repaired or give it into the store you bought it in so they can send it away

I feel your pain. D: Well, I guess I used to. I used to live in a small 'hick' town, now I don't.

Just get a new DS Lite

my advise: save and get a dsi, keep your current, semi-broken ds for pal park and trading. (you won't have to restart in pearl, however you will have to get a new pal pad number, that's what ties the card and the console.)

A new DS case is about £5/$8.

Buying a whole new DS isn't really a solution to a problem now is it? No wonder sales are so high on those damn things.

    Hi-five man! Mine's broken too.

It's like broken into half. LOL
My mum used Super Glue to stick it back.
And a few days later, the DS Signal (you know the light on/off?) came out.
And the wire inside fell out through the hole in the DS, therefore I cannot on it at all...

I guess I have to wait till November/December for a new one... Sigh...

This happened to my cousin, he didn't find it much of a problem, but I'd probably find it rather frustrating.
If it continues to annoy you, then buy yourself a DSi.

Buy a new hinge or case on e-bay. Then repair it using the part(s) you purchased.

Or just buy a new one.

    My brother has this.

He puts a DS game case under the screen and plays it on the floor...It works surprisingly well.

If that's too much hassle, just buy a new one.

    I've done this twice so far, and my brothers have done it three times. Maybe we just drop them too much..? D;

At any rate, I got a new DS Lite, and bought one of those Nerf armor-things. I've had this one for over a year now and nothing's broken. :3
