    IN DEPTH

[PokeCommunity.com] My first ever attempt at a competitive team
    Gallade @ Focus Sash
    Adamant
    252 Atk/252 Spd/6 Hp
    -Psycho Cut
    -Swords Dance
    -Close Combat
    -Thunder Wave

Basically your average everyday run of the mill physical sweeper. Basically go in there and first thing throw up a swords dance and then let the focus sash do its magic if needed. Psycho Cut and Close Combat can pwn like mass, and there is also t-wave when needed, especially against flying or ghosts.

[PokeCommunity.com] My first ever attempt at a competitive team
    Charizard @ Choice Specs
    Modest
    252 Satk/252 Spd/6 Hp
    -Flamethrower
    -Focus Blast
    -Dragon Pulse
    -Air Slash

A pretty basic Charizard. Just sweep with flamethrower and air slash since i get the STAB bonuses from them. Dragon pulse is there for pesky salamences, etc and any pokemon thats rather immune to flying or fire, and focus blast is there for the rock pokemon that come along.

[PokeCommunity.com] My first ever attempt at a competitive team
Scyther @ Focus Sash [MIGHT NEED TO CHANGE]
    Adamant
    252 Atk/252 Spd/6 Hp
    -Aerial Ace
    -X-Scissor
    -Swords Dance
-Substitute (REALLY might need to change this one, I really don't even know what I was thinking)

Pretty self-explanatory. Swords dance, and then let focus sash save me if needed, then sweep with aerial ace/x-scissor. Last slot needs to be filled, I don't think sub is a good option on him.

[PokeCommunity.com] My first ever attempt at a competitive team
Lapras @ Leftovers [MIGHT NEED TO CHANGE]
    Modest
    252 Satk/252 Hp/6 Spd
    -Surf
    -Ice Beam
    -Confuse Ray
    -Body Slam

Lapras is awesome, his HP is going to be 450+ and his defenses aren't lacking even without EV training. Only con is he's going to be out sped by about 80% of pokemon. Basically just confuse the enemy from the beginning and then sweep with surf/ice beam. Body Slam is there for the parahax when needed, 30% chance isn't bad.

[PokeCommunity.com] My first ever attempt at a competitive team
Umbreon @ Leftovers [MIGHT NEED TO CHANGE]
    Bold
    252 Sdef/252 Hp/ 6 def
    -Toxic
    -Confuse Ray
    -Wish
    -Baton Pass

Ok, this is a kinda mixed umbreon. Basically the strategy is to confuse the enemy and then just toxic them and wait it out. Keep HP up with Wish and then Baton Pass is there when the situation gets ugly.

[PokeCommunity.com] My first ever attempt at a competitive team
Fortress @ Leftovers [MIGHT NEED TO CHANGE]
    Lax
    252 Def/252 Hp/6 Atk
    -Stealth Rock
    -Earthquake
    -Rapid Spin
    -Explosion

My possible lead-off just because he has stealth rock. Basically, stealth rock first turn and then earthquake if the type advantage is there. If its not just switch out and save him for when/if I get spiked or stealth rocked. Explosion is there whenever its appropriate.

OK, thats my team. Keep in mind I just started getting into competitive play, and REALLY learning about pokemon. Any criticism/advice is welcome. Thanks :o

CHANGES ARE IN BOLD!!!!!! and yes, there is lots already, lol

    Relaxed >>Lax on forry.

    Zard wants choice specs

Scyther isnt useful in OU, too many steels lol at it and its outclassed by Scizor.

Forry is useless outside of stall and so is umbreon outside of uu imo.

    Please give gallade close combat.

Lapras is also meh outside of uu.

In addition, half your team is SR weak. Whilst you might say "But i have rapid spin" yes whilst this is true, rapid spin can be easily blocked.

At the moment your team is also VERY metagame weak. Threats ranging from Heatran, Gyarados, Salamence, Tyranitar, Lucario even Empoleon and Gengar 6-0 you with ease and a whole lot more im not going to mention because the list would be way to long. I mean you cant even stop a Blissey, nothing can take t-waves and it can just tank over your entire team. Heck you even lose to curselax lol

    https://www.pokecommunity.com/showthread.php?t=168147

Id advise you to take note to this when making a team.

Basically this whole team needs a MASSIVE revamp.

Sorry if this sounds harsh, but it is for your own good.

haha no its cool dark azelf, i knew it was coming lol
i just did what i could haha, its my first team so i have to start somewhere
    :o
    thanks man
but where do i go from here?
    LMAO

That's dependant: If you want to play in the OU Metagame, stick with OU Pokemon (Although some UUs can be used, they just aren't as viable) Check *smogon.com link removed* for the list of OU Pokemon

If you want to play UU, stick with UU Pokemon found *smogon.com link removed*

Also, you should choose a style of play as well, as balanced teams just fail now :P Either all-out offense or stall teams are all goods choices (Or a Trick Room team like mine XD)

Also, use that threat list: If you can't counter the majority of those threats one way or another, keep testing and seeing what works.

thanks, and honestly I think I'd rather go UU than OU just because most OU pokemon are like legendaries, and virtually everyone uses the same pokemon, but not in UU as much, freedom of choice I say

This post is going to be rather long. Okay so you want to make it into a UU team, first note that Forrey and Gallade are banned from UU so you'll have to remove them.

Don't lead with Gallade, its not bad really but you can do better. For replacing Forrey I'd suggest you put in Steelix. Use him as a lead.

    Steelix @ Leftovers
    Nature : Relaxed(+Def, -Spe)
    EV : 252 HP / 120 Atk / 136 SpD
    -Stealth Rock
    -Earthquake
    -Gyro Ball
    -Toxic / Explosion

You set up the rocks and attack with your STAB moves. I'd use Explosion for the last slot as if there's a wall you want to get rid of BANG! you blow up on them :)

Now all of your team is legit for UU and now I'll turn to your remaining team members >.<

Nonono! You want HP Grass to hit Water-types. Dragon Pulse is only useful in OU for hitting Dragons.

[PokeCommunity.com] My first ever attempt at a competitive team
Scyther @ Life Orb [MIGHT NEED TO CHANGE]
    Jolly
    252 Atk/252 Spd/6 Hp
    -Aerial Ace
    -X-Scissor
    -Swords Dance
    -Brick Break

Pretty self-explanatory. Swords dance, and then let focus sash save me if needed, then sweep with aerial ace/x-scissor. Last slot needs to be filled, I don't think sub is a good option on him.

LO SD Sweeper please, Brick Break or else Steel types can wall you. Jolly lets you outspeed alot of threats.

[PokeCommunity.com] My first ever attempt at a competitive team
Lapras @ Leftovers [MIGHT NEED TO CHANGE]
    Modest
    192 HP / 112 Def / 160 SpA / 44 SpD

    -Sing

Special Attacker Lapras not that horrible mixed attacking set you had :)

[PokeCommunity.com] My first ever attempt at a competitive team
Umbreon @ Leftovers [MIGHT NEED TO CHANGE]
    Careful
    252 HP / 92 SpD / 164 Spe
    -Toxic
    -Payback
    -Wish
    -Taunt

Ok, this is a kinda mixed umbreon. Basically the strategy is to confuse the enemy and then just toxic them and wait it out. Keep HP up with Wish and then Baton Pass is there when the situation gets ugly.

Support Umberon provides Wish support as well as letting you poison enemies and set Pokemon who want to set-up down.
