  • Okay so I decided to create a UU/NU team so I can take on some UU/NU challenges. Here's the team.

    *Changes are in bold

    Quick Glance
    i_donphan.gif
    i_kabutops.gif
    i_honchkrow.gif
    i_mesprit.gif
    i_venusaur.gif
    i_houndoom.gif

    THE LEAD
    i_donphan.gif

    Donphan @ Leftovers
    Sturdy
    Adamant
    52 HP / 252 Atk / 204 Def
    - Rapid Spin
    - Earthquake
    - Assurance
    - Stealth Rock

I chose Donphan because of it's ability to use Rapid Spin and Stealth Rock. Earthquake gives good coverage and deals neutral damage to most Pokemon.

    THE SWEEPER
    i_kabutops.gif

    Kabutops @ Choice Band
    Battle Armor
    Adamant
    72 HP / 252 Atk / 184 Spe
    - Stone Edge
    - Waterfall
    - Aqua Tail
    - Swords Dance

He's just there to sweep through most Pokemon. Superpower is there to be used on anything that may wall me. Stone Edge and Waterfall for coverage.

    THE MIXED SWEEPER
    i_honchkrow.gif

    Honchkrow @ Choice Scarf
    Super Luck
    Naive
    248 Atk / 48 SpA / 212 Spe
    - Night Slash
    - Drill Peck
    - Superpower
    - Pursuit

This guy's the only "fast" Pokemon on this team. I'll usually send him in on Sceptile that can mess up a good portion of my team (Donphan, Kabutops, Cradily).

    THE SPECIAL SWEEPER
    i_mesprit.gif

    Mesprit @ Choice Specs
    Levitate
    Timid
    6 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
    - Psychic
    - Ice Beam
    - Thunderbolt
    - Trick / U-Turn

    STATUS INFLICTER
    i_venusaur.gif

    Venusaur @ Life Orb
    Overgrow
    Jolly
    252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
    - Earthquake / Return
    - Sleep Powder
    - Power Whip / Seed Bomb
    - Synthesis

    END GAME SWEEPER
    i_houndoom.gif

    Houndoom @ Life Orb
    Flash Fire
    Timid
    40 Atk / 252 SpA / 216 Spe
    - Nasty Plot
    - Dark Pulse
    - Fire Blast
    - Sucker Punch

No no, LO Typhlosion with Eruption is useless because SR ruins it and LO reduces its power after each use thanks to the loss of HP, Flamethrower or Fire Blast will be better choices. or change Eruption in General to Hidden Power Grass so waters arent causing you problems.

  • Typhlosion @ Choice Specs
    Blaze
    Mild / Rash
    144 Atk / 252 SpA / 112 Spe
    - Overheat
    - Focus Blast
    - Flamethrower
    - Earthquake

Is this any better than the previous set?

Ok this team is BAD stall bait. Nothing can attack and you lack anything that can break it, you also lose to offense because nothing can sweep so imma help make this more solid.

Typhlosion : - LO + Eruption = no, you just kill yourself lol. Use leftovers or just use another set that doesnt use Eruption. Actually Houndoom is better in this metagame so id use it because its movepools isnt completely ass. :/ lol

    Houndoom@Life Orb
    40 Atk / 252 SpA / 216 Spe
    Timid / Hasty Nature
    - Nasty Plot
    - Dark Pulse
    - Fire Blast
    - Hidden Power Flying / Sucker Punch

Sucker Punch stops Dugtrio revenge killing you and can pick of low hp threats whilse HP Flying gives you optimal coverage beating counters like Poliwrath and Hariyama.

Honchkrow : - Pursuit >> Heat Wave on Krow so you can Pursuit stuff like ghosts that stop Donphan spinning. Heat Wave sucks and does like 2 to things that are weak to it (Steelix runs max s.def and Registeel just lols anyway) that and SuperPower + Drill Peck beat everything Heat Wave covers anyway. You can also Pursuit Chansey which makes Houndooms sweep easier.

Kabutop : - Kabutops wants the Swords Dance set, nothing on your team can sweep late game.

    Kabutops@Life Orb
    252 ATT / 252 SPEED / 6 HP
    Adamant Nature
    Trait :Swift Swim
    - Swords Dance
    - Aqua Jet
    - Stone Edge
    - Aqua Tail

Cradilly is terrible outside of SS tbh, replace it for another sweeper. Preferably something that beats RP Torterra who outspeeds EVERYTHING (yes scarf krow too) and massacres it. Offensive Weezing is actually really good in this metagame, it also checks fighting types well for you so you could consider that.

    Weezing (M) @ Choice Specs
    Ability: Levitate
    EVs: 252 HP/6 Atk/252 SAtk
    Quiet nature (+SAtk, -Spe)
    - Sludge Bomb
    - Fire Blast
    - Hidden Power [Grass]
    - Explosion

2HKO's everything in UU at worst iirc.

Lastly you NEED an Azumarril counter/check, gardy is pretty bad tbh, its Pursuit/Spirotomb/Honchkrow bait. Try something like a Venusaur over it. So you can at least take Waterfalls jeez. Wish support really doesnt help this team.

    Try Heysups Venusaur set.

    Venusaur (M) @ Life Orb
    Ability: Overgrow
    EVs: 252 Atk/4 Def/252 Spd
    Jolly nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
    - Earthquake / Return
    - Sleep Powder
    - Power Whip
    - Synthesis

Also helps with your Raikou weak to an extent and absorbs Toxic Spikes which are the death of this team.

    Phan
    SD Kabutops
    Specs Weezing
    LO Venusaur
    NP Houndoom
    Scarf Krow @ Pursuit

Something like this ? Goood luck with the team.

Is there an alternative for HP Grass on Weezing?
And Venusaur can't learn Power Whip unless it's from HG/SS

Try Thunderbolt then, but HP Grass is really good it lets you beat everything that resists your other moves like Quagsire, Gastrodon and what not, id try to get HP Grass if you can. ;]

And use Seed Bomb i guess if you dont have access to HG/SS.

Like what he said, your team is weak to Raikou . so this is your main threat in your team.

Also RP Rhyperior is causing you problems.

  • I got your private message, GengarMaster. I would love to rate your team. Just a side note though... I am still new to the under used tier.

I shall do my very best to rate it ^_^.

    Typhlosion @ Choice Scarf
    Blaze
    Mild / Rash
138 HP, 252 SAtk, 116 Spe (EV's are changed since there is no Blissey in UU)
    - Eruption
    - Focus Punch
    - Overheat
    - Earthquake

--> I would lead with Typhlosion. If you face a lead you can't beat (which aren't a lot in UU) you can always switch.

Donhan is replaced by Rhyperior so you have a free spot on your team. I would like to fill that in with:

    Hitmontop @ leftovers/ adamant/ intimidate
    252 HP, 252 Atk, 6 Def

    - Foresight (so you can spin against Spiritomb and other ghosts)
    - Rapid Spin
    - Sucker Punch
    - Close Combat

--> This will be your spinner. And revenge killing is also on its duty list.

Kabutops is only worthy on Rain Dance teams. This isn't one so I have a suggestion as his replacement:

    Milotic @ leftovers/ bold/ marvel scale
    252 HP, 240 Def, 16 SAtk

    - Rest
    - Sleep Talk
    - Surf
    - Ice Beam

--> Milotic is your status absorber. That can really annoy the opponent sinces he is really hard to take down like that. Moveset is simple.

Honchkrow @ Life Orb/ Expert Belt
    Super Luck
    Naive
    248 Atk / 48 SpA / 212 Spe
    - Night Slash
    - Brave Bird (is better then drill peck)
    - Superpower
    - Heat Wave

Like Kabutops isn't good without Rain Cradily isn't' really good without the SS boost. So I have this as a suggestion:

    Rhyperior @ leftovers/ impish/ solid rock
    244 HP, 184 Def, 80 SDef

    - Stealth Rock
    - Stone Edge
    - Megahorn/ Avalanche/ Roar
    - Stealth Rock

    Gardevoir @ Leftovers
    Trace
    Modest
    252 HP / 48 SpA / 172 SpD / 32 Spe
    - Will-O-Wisp
    - Wish
    - Psychic
    - Energy Ball (now that Rhyperior is UU it can be a problem on your team since you have no actual counter besides Milotic (if you use it), so Energy Ball is an option here, Thunderbolt is anly viable for hitting flying types, who aren't that common)

I don't know much about the under used tier, but I hope this helped :D.

Just wondering, could I use Altaria instead of Weezing?

Not really, Altaria doesnt check fighting types because they have stone edge and nor does it beat the threatening grass types thanks to sceptile having rock slide and torterra having stone edge.
