My New AmphyChu!

This is one of the decks I've been working on recently. I think I may end up splitting it up and running a different deck with Ampharos in it. The idea is to get the Raichu line out as quickly as possible for quick knockouts early game, and the Ampharos are in there to combo to keep the opponent from doing anything with PokePowers. Electrode is in there for some quick-hitting and extra energy. Raichu X is for tight spots where I need to hit for more than 100 in a turn to avoid a game loss. Certain Pokemon are in just for energy recovery or energy fetching.

Anyways, here's the decklist:

Pokemon:
1x Pichu SF
1x Pikachu SF
2x Pikachu HS
3x Raichu HS
1x Raichu Lv.X SF
1x Mareep PL
2x Mareep HS
1x Flaaffy SW
1x Flaafy HS
1x Ampharos POP7
1x Ampharos PL
1x Ampharos (Prime) HS
1x Voltorb Lv.31 SF
1x Voltorb Lv.28 SF
2x Electrode SW
1x Pachirisu DP04
1x Baltoy GE
1x Claydol GE
1x Uxie LA

T/S/S:
1x Broken Time-Space
1x Good Rod
1x Night Maintenance
2x Interviewer's Questions
2x Super Scoop Up
2x Premier Ball
3x Rare Candy
3x Pokemon Communication
3x Bebe's Search
3x Fisherman

Energy:
12x Lightning Energy

I'm worried about Donphan with this deck, do you have a counter? I don't know what your metagame is, but at league I play against at least 1 Donphan deck a week.
I always liked the Ampharos' and how they work together so well, the only problem I have with them is that I can't evolve them all fast enough, because they're stage 2's. I usually have to include a lot of BTS to counteract that.
Glad you did well at BR's with this! It's good to see rogue decks do well, I'm so tired of LuxChomp :/

Why would you need a Donphan counter anyways? I have that card and don't think it's that good, which is why i'm selling it....but yeah why would you even need a Donphan counter?

Because it dominates a lot of metagames. And by Donphan, we mean Donphan Prime. It's a great counter deck to anything that runs Luxray GL Lv. X, since it has a resistance that takes 20 damage away from any attack Luxray can throw at it, and Exoskeleton takes away another 20 damage, basically rendering any attack from Luxray useless. Luxray GL is abundant in a ton of competitive decks. Also, any Body that takes damage off of an attack with no drawback is good in my book. Donphan is also a heavy hitter, doing 60 for 1 energy, and 90 for 3.

Yes, i know you mean Donphan Prime. That's what I was referring to as well. I never thought of it as a counter to Luxray decks. That's a very good point. 60 for one energy ain't bad, but i'm really not a fan of it damaging everyone on my bench for that 60 dmg. I also don't think that 90 dmg for 3 energies is anything special either, but like i said before, I'm sure the main reason people run it is due to it's counter ability. I do have a fighting deck, that is my UU deck. It's just made up of extra cards I couldn't fit in any other decks. Machamp(SF), Hippowdon(MD) and a Shuppet(PL) for variety. I also have Lunatone(GE) and Solrock(SV) for card drawing power w/o Claydol. Doesn't really have a direction other than to try to get Machamp to kill stuff and if he dies use Hippowdon to get energies back for free and "bat cleanup." Anyways, now that i realize that Donphan Prime is such a good counter for Luxray GL, I might not sell it after all and throw it in that deck.
