My New Competitive Team

No, you're going to need a heart scale to reteach it ThunderPunch.

okay, i tought my dragonite thunderpunch so now its moveset is-

dragon claw
earthquake
ice beam
thunderpunch

comments? suggestions?

Isn't thunderbolt stronger than thunderpunch. Plus, you won't be prone to static and poison point and stuff like that. In gold, Lances dragonite knows thunder, so it can learn thunderbolt in all likelyhood. It has a much larger movepool than salamence and can learn thunder wave to speed it up a bit. I'd stick with him.

dragonite is more of a physical attacker, so thunderbolt maybe a stronger move but when used by a dragonite thunderpunch does more damage

Dragon Dance over Ice Beam maybe, gives him more firepower and makes him faster, plus Dragon Claw can kill most other dragons, and thunder punch for the flyers

Thunderpunch is physical? I thought special attack counted for grass, ice, fire, dark, dragon, psychic, ELECTRIC, and water even if it involved physical contact. I play 3rd gen though has something changed? I'm baffled on this one.

no, its never been like that. if u check ur pokes moves it should tell u whether or not it is physical special, status, or whatever

Actually, it was always like that. The split between physical and special attacks was determined by type up until D/P, and now it's decided individually for each attack.

Fly, AA and wing attack are the only Flying attacks that Dnite knows, so Fly is the best in my opinion.
Thunderblot hits skarmory and Gyarados harder than thunderpunch, so unless you want to combine it with CB or DD it is outdone.
Mind you, Dnite could do with a DD for its speed. It makes a much better DDer than Mence, because mence has fragile defences.
One DD gives Dragonite a base attack of 201 and a base speed of 120.
Dragonite
Adamant/Jolly
DD
Outrage
Thunderpunch
EQ/Fly

Don't advocate Fly. Fly takes two turns with 90 base power. With those two turns, Aerial Ace could hit twice. Also, while you're in the air, Thunder will always hit. But most importantly, while you're Flying, I could just switch out into something resistant.

and whats wrong with the move fly?

Fly is the most noob move ever and all it's pretty much good for is flying to other towns. Dragonite would do better with a moveset like this:

Dragon @ Leftovers
Trait: Inner Focus
EVs: 252 ATT / 252 SPEED / 4 HP
Moveset:

Dragon Dance
Aerial Ace
Ice Beam
Earthquake

well everyone tells me to teach dragonite dragon dance in place of ice beam, but i dont like using status moves i never do. so i was wondering, should i teach it fire punch in place of ice beam?
Yeah, that would be good teaching Fire Punch instead of Ice Beam. it takes care of it's main weakness, ice. and some others.

thank you, and i hope we can get past the previous quarrel. no hard feelings
Yeah, we can. anyways, you should give him leftovers, and teach him Dragon Dance somewhere in there. Also, what game is this? Leftovers Because he's bulky and all bulky/Heavy Pokemon, should have Leftovers.

Don't underestimate stat-upping moves, it made my Gyarados a sweeper.

i would teach him dragon dance but i seriously dont use any status moves, so even if i did end up teaching him dragon dance i would never use it. the games its on is pearl. i might give it leftovers, but right now its holding draco plate
