I was doing stuff on my PC, cleaning it up so some dumb virus appears again. And now, the sound doesn't work. I tested it in the control panel using the configuration thingy and it played. I also tested it in the bottom right tab thingy. So the sound isn't really playing in chrome.

    What I tried:

    Disable Flash

    Control Panel configuration

if physically cleaning, maybe a wire came loose or the soundcard (if they make em anymore) came loose as well

if cleaning, software wize, download the drivers again

I'd advise you to be a little more descriptive. Is your browser playing sound or is it not? Have pinned the problem down to just Chrome, or are there other programs that don't play sound (properly). What OS are you even running? Win10 tends to be a little weird after updates, so did you update recently? Have you tried resetting the configuration of your browser? There should be a user specific folder that contains all your Chrome configuration and if you rename it, Chrome should create a new one.

download and run malware bytes and see if that helps with some stuff you could also see if reinstalling the sound driver helps

Besides the suggestions previously posted about cleaning up Chrome and updating your drivers, check through your Programs and Features/Add Remove Programs Control Panel, and if you want, post your installed programs list (as shown in the aforementioned Control Panel applet) as a reply here (though I'm not sure Zach will necessarily agree with this since I'm probably giving bad advice here). That way, we might be able to determine what program(s) listed are causing your problem.

Theres always checking your Default Device for audio as well. Right-click the audio icon on the task bar and click playback devices. Make sure your preferred audio device says its the default, if not just right click to change it!
