[Intro] My third intro!

Hello everyone!

As you can see from the title, I think it's the third time I've written one of these posts. My first one in roughly 2012, another in 2019 and another today!

So much has changed in the last 3-4 years. I've moved to 2 different countries in that time!!

I often think about this community but haven't checked in for a very long time and I always miss being here. There's so many great things going on here and so much has changed! (thankfully I've got my trusty legacy mode theme on hand to help my find my way!)

I'm looking to get involved with the role-playing again as I've always been a huge fan of the work that goes on in there. As well as have a look at the new developments in the rom hacking space. (There's decoms now?! Is binary editing still the norm?)

While the discord is great for many many things, I still feel like nothing can compete with the true community feel of a forum for me, so I'll always come back here no matter how many breaks I have :laugh-squinted:

Also, I dropped my first ever donation (well overdue!) as a way to appreciate the work put in by the staff to keep this site running. You're all truly wonderful.

Don't be afraid to reach out if anyone wants to chat about absolutely anything or if you have any suggestions in terms of rp or rom hacks!

Hello, Jbsundown, and welcome back (again ^^) to the forums!
I am happy to see you still enjoy spending time here. You can find several roleplays to join, taking place in the Pokémon world or beyond, with characters being trainers, but also pokémon for some!
You will find the fan games / ROM hacks section is still quite active! ^^

You will always be welcome in this community of Pokémon fans!
About RP, I am in one (my character is easy to guess ^^) involving Sinnoh and spatial rifts, started at the end of last year, but it currently is on hiatus...

Thanks for the warm welcome!

It's great to hear that the forums are still going strong and everyone is still as lovely as ever :)

That sounds very exciting, I'll give some of the IC posts a read through, I do enjoy reading RP posts sometimes more than writing them :D

Welcome Back! There is no escape :fufu:

Have you kept up with the mainline Pokemon games?

Have you kept up with the mainline Pokemon games?

Thank you thank you!
Unfortunately not :( I don't own a switch so my last played mainline game would be Ultra Moon. I'm quite out of touch when it comes to the newer regions, pokemon and mechanics!
*Cue back in my day / simpler times*
Eventually I hope to play them all though. Which of the more recent ones do you prefer?

Sword/Shield & Scarlet/Violet.
Galar to me has a really strong lineup of new mons that I like, which to me has always been my main interest in a Pokemon game.
Paldea doesn't have as strong of a new Pokemon lineup for me, but the new playstyle of just cruising around in the open world on the back of your motorcycle lizard has it's own charm.
Galar does have a bit of an unfinished feel to it if you don't get and play the DLC's as well. Paldea is similar in that regard, but the DLC's are still inbound later on this year.

Did you play the original Sun/Moon as well? If so did you prefer the original or the Ultra versions?

Ahhh I see! I'll keep that in mind about the DLCs too when I inevitably get the games (though the switch has been around for a while and I keep telling myself I'll get one eventually!)

I did play the original Moon yes, I think I prefer it to the Ultra version. But I think that's because so little changed for the Ultra version so I ended up disappointed. I think if I had played just the Ultra one by itself I'd have been really happy with it!

You mentioned the new pokemon being a big draw for you, which are your favourites from the Galar then?

I liked the Rainbow Rocket episode in USUM when I played it first time round, but when I played the opposite version years later it felt like such a drag xD
Did you like any of the Ultra Beasts? Most people seem to either love or hate them.

As for Galar favorites:
Corviknight, Rillaboom, Orbeetle, Eldegoss, Drednaw, Coalossal, Toxtricity, Centiskorch, Hatterene, Grimmsnarl, Obstagoon, Falinks, Frosmoth, Indeedee, Glastrier, Spectrier.
There are various mons I also consider good that I omitted simply because I don't consider them a favorite =P

I'd say from those Indeedee, Toxtricity, Falinks, Hatterene and Glastrier would stand above the rest for me.
Indeedee was actually initially a mon I was indifferent on, but I had them follow me around in the DLC areas and realized they were supposed to be a Butler and a Maid. I tried them out in battle too after that and they made their way from 'IDC about it' to 'Love them' =3

That's really cool!

I remember liking some of them. I remember liking the Ultra Beasts overall. I can't remember any names though at the moment. But I don't remember disliking any of them. Normally there's very few pokemon in any given generation that I really don't like, and in USUM I don't remember the ultra beasts being that. I'll have to play back through the game again soon and maybe that'll trigger some repressed memories!

I always love hearing stories about how people's perceptions of their pokemon changed after a specific interaction. That's very cool about having them follow and then changing your opinion like that! I always feel bad about not liking pokemon so normally I don't dislike them for long. Especially if they have a happy face! Any smiling or happy face is an instant yes for me :D

Oh! I am sorry, I forgot to ask the mandatory question! ^^

Which pokémon made your view of it change after a specific moment ?
For me, I would say that while I liked Gardevoir's look and stats, I did not actually count that pokémon in my top favourites, until I tried a fan game who had one as a character, and seeing that character come in, her dialogues, her scenes, ... through the game's story, the pokémon swiftly took the spot of personal second top favourite pokémon! ^^
(Said fan game is Pokémon Reborn, filled with top level battles and hairpulling puzzles.)

Excellent question!
I thought about it for a while as there's been a few. For example Mudkip from one of the mystery dungeon games I think. I didn't have much of an opinion before but now I think he's cool!

But the winner by far is Raticate. I didn't really like him all that much before. But I was gifted a plushie Raticate and now I absolutely love him! He's the best! So cool with his flappy pointy teeth and his matted fur!
I'll share a picture when I've moved in and have him back, he's the best!

Oh I don't think I've played Pokemon Reborn. The name sounds familiar though but I'll take a look at it and give it a go! Ty for the recommendation :D

Hello and welcome back to the PC!

It's nice to see a new (old?) face in the Games section once in a while! (it seems like only a few people are seriously active over there compaired to how many are on the site)

As for a question, I'll go with one of my favorites. 'What's your favorite Pokemon Type?'

I love all the forum games stuff, it's one of the things that I always miss when I'm gone.

Hmmm my favourite type... Probably dragon as it often has the coolest designs! But I think Fire and Water are very close by with Psychic just behind :)
