4th Gen "n00b" and "Uber" buisness

Did you read ANYTHING that ANYONE in this thread said? Ubers are too powerful. Sure, maybe you can get beaten when you use Ubers, but in the hands of someone who knows what they're doing, they're too powerful.
 
Yeah, I understand all that. But I personally believe I should have the right to use whichever Pokemon I feel like using

I did capture them afterall.

I dont think you get the point people are making. They are too powerful. Just because you caught them does not make them ok to use. If that's your reasoning then everyone would be using the ubers they caught and only around 20 pokemon would ever be used in competetive play.

If you wanna use them, fine go ahead. But organise your own games, your own tournaments, and enjoy playing very few people, because most of the best battlers here will stand by the ethos that ubers are too strong and will not associate with them. The arguament below best sums it up.

And you can. As long as you hash that out with the person you're battling berforehand, and they're OK with it, then go ahead. Tiers are used for people who want to be hardcore competative. But there's no hard-set rule that you can never use your legends in battles with your friends.
 
One of the biggest things I'm pointing out is about the fact that these people who set these tournament rules, they're cutting their own ability to use them as well...They COULD use them, but they don't...

I still can't understand why people can't just battle all out anymore <_<.

Having ubers denies ability when used against other pokemon. I could spend months IV breeding and EV training my Salemence in attack and it wouldnt match up to that of an un-trained attack deoxys. And saying they could use them if they wanted would revert to the point already make a gazzilion times, they would be the only pokemon used by everyone and everything would get left behind.
 
That's the other thing, I don't IV or EV train.

Firstly, I don't even know how to.

And secondly, I refuse to after being told to completly get rid of the team I had in my LeafGreen, which included the Pokemon I trained since I started it, because of natures.


But that's beside the point. I just want the freedom to bring out my Pokemon I use in my ingame team, which is usually 1 legendary and 5 normal Pokemon.

I personally wouldn't mind battling an Uber team, as long as my opponent lets me know beforehand. I might even bring an Uber team myself, assuming I ever make one.

And seeing as you don't IV breed or EV train, you wouldn't fare well against most of the people who do. I suggest battling against other people who feel as you do, as there are a few of them out there.

And you are surely not the only one with those beliefs, heh. I wouldn't see a problem with someone starting a tournament which banned IV'd and EV'd Pokemon and/or allowed Ubers(DragonflyCave already has the former, actually). I just wouldn't be participating for most likely the same reasons you won't join the tournaments you mentioned. ^^

PS-you realize that not every legendary is Uber, right? Uxie is allowed in standard play, as is Cresselia and quite a few others. But no, not Dialga. Heh
 
if you feel this strongly about then just, ask someone for a battle that allows ubers...heres an example why people don't like using ubers:
lets say
you: a nuclear bomb
opponet: a XM312 .50 cal

i mean OU are like the latter, they are extremely powerful but the word powerful cant even begin to explain the power of ubers

and people ban them from there own leagues because
1.they dont wanna scare off challengers
2.they want a respective, fair fight

i also remember when i used to think like you, but i got over it, as you will see using a OU tier will make it easier to have fun, and get battles
 
See, I still think like I did back when I played RBY, GSC, and even RSE. I battled a friend, and we didn't set up rules, we didn't set anything. We just went into a battle, and used whatever we had against eachother, and whoever won, won, and whoever lost, lost.


Also, back then, people didn't make teams for tournaments, they just used their ingame team, which is something unfortunatly you don't see often anymore.

Everyone's too picky nowadays...it's all so technical.
I don't consider it noobish at all to do certain things with your team.
Do what you want. It's your team.
If someone else thinks its stupid or "strategically incorrect" then they can go whine about it to themselves.
The reason I don't look into all these tiers, strategies, choice items and all that crap is because i don't have time to.
I'll EV train sure...sometimes IV breed.
But that's about it.
Some of thee strategies require too much time and effort, and by that point, you've sapped away all the fun of the game!!!!!

P.S. Sorry for the rant...I had to get that off my chest.
 
i know its fun to use pokes you like, sometimes im still dissappointed at the tiers and stuff, but like i said if you wanna use them just ask someone willing to battle with them to battle with you
 
Yea true, but when I can't find someone like that, I'll do a normal tier battle.
But it kinda ticks me off when i fight these losers with no life that have these incredibly complex strategies.
It's not cause I lose either.
It's because most of them act all high and mighty because they beat an average player in battle.
There's something pathetic about that situation.
Some of them are respectable, but to all the others...they need to put down the gameboy and get a grip on reality.
 
Im going to put the issue into context here. International football (That's soccer, none of this rubbish that uses its hands and calls itself football) rules state that players are banned from using performance-enhancing drugs. But everyone has access to these drugs, so why dont we all use them? It's because its not fair on the players who adhere to the spirit of the game and like to challenge themselves.

Im not going to post again, but what i wanna say is that if you wanna use ubers, find other people who are willing to. Because tiers and rules and restrictions are here to stay, otherwise sites like this would degrade to the hangouts of people thinking they are l33t because all the real battlers have left.

But aside from that.
You took this thing out of context actually.
Not everyone uses steroids, true.
However not everyone has access to them.
Some people don't use them to respect the spirit of the game, true again.
A lot don't use it cause it's extremely unhealthy!!
It almost guarantees a heart attack!
And legendaries are part of the game.
Steroids aren't part of soccer or football.
Just get my point.
That was a bad example.
Legendaries don't ruin the fun of the game.
They add to the challenge.
It adds to the strategy.
You have to start thinking how you're gonna take that thing out.
I personally prefer it.

Soccer isn't that great to me.
I personally believe football takes more effort overall but that's just me.
And maybe I'm just tired of being called a noob because I don't adhere to some rules that some nobody made up.

This entire thread has been giving me a headache (save for Gofre). If you prefer not to IV breed or EV train, or you don't want to learn how to battle, then fine. Enjoy playing with your friends. But don't think that that actually makes you better than others- or cool at all.

Well, I happen to enjoy the strategy in Pokemon- it adds depth to the game that was missing when I played as a kid. Maybe Halo is more your speed?

I didn't say I was cool. I don't really think I am.
However I think it's stupid to follow rules that someone decided were good, and thus you all follow this person's word like it's your freakin bible.
You're exactly the kind of idiot I was referring to.
You just whine and complain cause a legendary unbalances things, and that reduces you're chances to win.
Oh I'm so sry, get over it.
And get over yourself while you're at it.

P.S. Before you quote me, make sure you include everything in between, not just what you want others to see.
