NAming the Protaganists/Rivals - Japanese or English names?

Do you prefer to name them the English names (D/P/Pt example: Lucas, Barry, and Dawn) or the Japanese names (D/P/Pt example: [Male PRotaganist, I forgot O_o], Jun, Hikari)?
Personally, I prefer the Japanese names.

I tend to make them up myself.
Although sometimes if I really cannot be bothered, I just choose one of the english name options.

I like the English names better. However, I come up with original names for the rivals only if I don't like the default name listed, or if I just feel like it.

The only person whose official name I stick with is Silver's, and that's not even that often anymore. It's more fun thinking of my own stupid name. Best rival name I had was in Red. Rival ONIONS wants to fight!

I name the characters whatever I feel like at the time... Silver's name is Felix at the moment in HG.

I use my own names for my characters, but they're usually based off someone I know IRL or one of my fan fiction characters. The last time I used one of the "default" names was for the rival in LG, which was, ironically, "Red."

Hmmm...I tend to use the English Names/PokeSpe character names. Obviously Silver remains Silver no matter what. I guess I don't have the imagination to make up my own names...

I like creating them myself. Always English names though. o.o
My current rival on HG now is "Snookie". And it's not a Bump-It, it's a SNOOKEH.

I rarely use default names for either the protagonist or the rival. Instead, they're usually named Tommy or Teejerr and Guy or Tiptep respectively. The formor two come from my First name and a corruption of my most common internet username while the latter two come from my brother's first name and his most common internet username. XD

It is noteworthy that whenever I'm referring to the character in discussions, I will use their default English names: Red, Leaf, Blue, Eathan, Lyre, Silver, Brendan, May, Lucas, Dawn, Barry.

English names. Obviously, I make an exception in RSE to tell my Hoenn mons apart from those from my SoulSilver one, since my own name is Brendan and I used it for that.
