Naruto

I dropped Naruto at around ep 35 mainly because 2 of the main3 were annoying as hell.

Started watching Shippuden and it seems that Sasuke has ****** off and become a bad guy? and Sakura is less annoying, so it might be ok.

I like Naruto. I been reading the manga a lot lately. I watched all of Part 1. Yes even the fillers. And I am watching Shippuden(need to watch the current episodes though). I like mostly all the characters well except Orchimaru, Kabuto, Madara, Danzo, Hidan, etc...the rest are a-okay. I just love the story about a ninja working hard to become a leader of the village. To become Hokage, but he goes through so many obstacles. But he always overturn them. Naruto is awesome. I can't wait til he get to his goal. And he has all of his friends and family to help him out. :3

But anyway, Naruto is good. But there are some parts you can skip and it won't matter. The storyline won't change or anything. Like the fillers. If you don't like fillers, you can skip them and get to the canon material. The manga is great! If you haven't read the manga, start reading. It is awesome!

So yeah give a chance.

I just read the manga myself, watch some dubbing, but I prefer Abridged voices better. I like the Naruto manga more than Bleach manga at this point, but their otherwise even. After the stuff with meeting Sasuke for the first time in Shippuuden, I think it got a little better.

I have watched like 5 shows of Naruto it is pretty good.

Okay, here's my advise: Read the manga.

Seriously, animes are always much more childish. Plus, after a while you get like 200+ episodes of fillers.
Read the manga, because it's much further than the anime and it has no annoying fillers.

@PIXY GUY: Have you even read/watched the whole tournament?
It ends in a giant disaster, planned by the bad guy, and the Hokage dies.
So yeah, there's no plot. Of course. <.<
Plus, a tournament can work. At least there was a reason for the tournament.

OMG, A PLOT TWIST. ONE THAT THE WRITER PULLS OUT 60 EPISODES IN JUST TO MAKE THE ENTIRE PART OF THIS WHOLE CHUNIN EXAM COMPLETELY WORTHLESS.

CLEARLY HE IS TO BE HELD AT THE STANDARDS OF HAYAO MIYAZAKI AND NAOKI URASAWA BECAUSE OF HIS MASTERFUL STORY TELLING.

And a tournament works if there's a bigger story behind it 24/7, or if the characters have really interesting powers.

The Chunin Exam art didn't decide to have a plot until Oorichimaru came and decided to have every character fight some more and the characters' powers aren't that interesting.

Naruto can split into multiple forms of himself.
Ueki can turn trash into trees.

Which one sounds more interesting and... what's that word...

ORIGINAL?

Ey, we don't want this to become a flame war, right?

Tournaments are held in real life too. Well, not ninjutsu-style, but boxing, sumo wrestling etc. Why can't there be a tournament in a manga?
I'll be honset, I only liked Shikamaru vs Temari and Sasuke vs Gaara, the rest was kind of boring.
But you don't go hating on an entire series just because you don't like one arc. Plus, there actually is a story in Shippuuden.

No, no, I watched the whole series and, excluding the Zabuza Arc, the entire thing was one boring, dull, poorly made, poorly written series. And Tournaments are writers copping out when they don't feel like writing. If you want characters to fight, don't give a lazy generic answer and if you are make sure the fights are interesting to watch. And real life doesn't have a plot, stories do. The rest of the series didn't even matter, even to itself. It all felt pointless. It wasn't even entertaining. :/

I feel like we're not gonna agree on this. Ever. So let's just say some people like it, some don't.

But if it's the number one rated manga, you gotta admit it's doing something right.

Naruto Shippuuden is better than Naruto in my opinion, especially from the Sasuke vs. Orochimaru part, because things start to move quick and there is more and more suspense. I guess you could watch a few episodes of Naruto to understand the story, but Naruto Shippuuden is definitely an anime that I recommend.

Lets leave it at that. ^ It just doesn't become the number one manga out of the blue. ;D Does it have some short comings? Yes. Does every other anime/manga? Yes.

What do you mean 'Rated'?

Do you mean popularity? Yeah, big whoop, Twilight's popular too, that doesn't make it good.

If you mean quality, the only place I can think of that gathers 10000+ people's opinions and seems pretty unbiased would be MAL and even then Berserk is number one in manga and FMA: Brotherhood is number one in anime. The Naruto manga is #391 and the anime is #747 (Original) and #531 (Shippuuden) respectively. It isn't in the top 10 it isn't even in the top 100. And this isn't from a small group, 84000+ people are watching Shippuuden, 100000+ people watched Naruto and 45000+ people are reading Naruto. This seems like a large enough test group to show these statistics.

It's popular because it's from SJ and it was syndicated and still is syndicated. It has charm, I'm not denying that, a ninja village filled with ninjas sounds interesting but in terms of excecution it fails on so many basic story-telling levels.

Look, I'm not trying to say that I'm right and you're wrong. And you can't say Naruto isn't good just because you don't like it. I personally love it, but I'm not saying it's the greatest manga in existance. Death Note is.[/s
And please don't compare Naruto with Twillight... Just don't.

Like LiveWire said, yes, everything has its flaws. There are some things I don't like about Naruto, but that wouldn't drive me away from it. If I could be driven away by something small like that, I'd be hating on generation V right now.

And you can't just say Naruto's story fails... Perhaps it's slightly less good than some other manga's, but if it failed, it wouldn't even have those 100.000 fans. Also note that those are only the ones that know myanimelist.com.

Now can we stop this pointless discussion? I'm not trying to prove I'm right, I'm just letting you know that not everyone has to dislike Naruto.

No. n_n

You know, you aren't really defending Naruto anymore, you're just trying to get me to stop. And discussing and debating is what the Internet was made for.

Okay, that's not true, it was made for sending messages through cyberspace for the military, but my point remains valid. Don't just give up when someone actually argues with you. Do you agree with me on the last point I made?

And please don't compare Naruto with Twillight... Just don't.

Twilight = Massively popular and isn't really that good.
Naruto = Massively popular and isn't really that good.

Why?

I didn't mention anything small, I picked at the big issues I had with Naruto. I mentioned it's 2D characters and it's non-existent plot. I don't get how those are the little things. :/

Also, end of Pein Arc.

And you can't just say Naruto's story fails... Perhaps it's slightly less good than some other manga's, but if it failed, it wouldn't even have those 100.000 fans. Also note that those are only the ones that know myanimelist.com.

Like I said, just because something is popular doesn't mean it's good. If it had that many fans, don't you think it would need OVER 9000 haters to keep it from being really high? If Naruto was never on TV, never got into SJ and the world wasn't interested in Ninjas, do you think it would still be that loved? Naruto's popularity regulates it's poor quality. Which sucks mind you.
