What's up y'all! New forum user here. Huge Pokemon fan for years. Just finished playing through gen 6 games in celebration of mega evolution returning. Still one of the most beautiful messages in a story in the entire series. (Despite being executed awkwardly at times). I grew up playing tons of main series games as a kid mainly FRLG, HG/SS all the way through Sw/Sh. I've played every generation main series game at least once so I have a wide variety of main series experience lol. Recently became interested in making my own rom. I'm thinking an optimized version of FR/LG. Lore anccurate Expanded Pokédex/ physical special split, mega evolution, slight story edits etc. Always down to talk about any main series game/ Pokemon anime or learn more about making ROMS. Nice to meet y'all!

Edit: I had no idea I signed up years ago. I never posted or visited since so in case you are confused after checking my profile there you go.

    Hello and Welcome to PokeCommunity!!

It's nice seeing new faces joining up, things get slow around here sometimes... After playing all the generations main series, wich one did you like the most? I'd love to see your ROM taking shape, and would gladly play it, I'm an avid Hack ROM consumer lol

Hello, WDDB03, and welcome (officially) to the forums!
PokéCommunity's number one fact-checker here! Do you have some favourite Pokémon ?

What's up Fact checker! I would say my favorites are
Pikachu, Charizard, Greninja, Sceptile, (IK basic start) Mega Beedrill, Braviary, Flareon, Victrebell, Lycanroc, Camerupt
It's hard for me to narrow down more than that. I can assume Gardevoir is one of your favorites, what are some of your other favorites?

    What's good Joltik!
I appreciate the support, I just started making pallet town in essentials but I have a whole document of notes and ideas. I'll post updates when it's closer to completion.
It's really tough to choose a favorite, each game has their own charm. But if I had to pick I'd say Gen 6. Gen 6 introduces so much to the series, I just wish it got a follow up Z version, with Tera leak we learned we missed out of the G.O.A.T Pokemon game. And the jump to 3D was mind blowing as a kid. As well as awesome post game stories in both X/Y and ORAS.
What's your favorite? Can I guess it's nova based on your joltik profile? lol

Yes, my favorite generation was gen 5, more specifically Pokemon Black/White, I loved the idea of a "recap" on Pokemon, the whole new regional Pokédex, and acces to older gen pokemon only in the post game.

Hello there WddB03, and welcome (back?) to the PC!

I've also played every main series Gen, (some of them multiple times lol) which of them is your favorite?

(oh, and @Fact Checking Gardevoir a ping so you know they replied lol)

Neat! I also have Sceptile and Braviary among my favourites! I also have Rayquaza, Salamence, Milotic, Serperior and Swampert. Gardevoir is my second top favourite, and as for the number one, it has always been Charizard, since Red! ^^

Thanks for the ping on that I thought I pressed reply.
It's hard to pick, every gen has its own charm as you probably know. But I gotta say Gen 6. Gen 6 shook up the series so much and introduced so many things that are staples in the series to this day. And megas are still the best gimmick. Both X/Y and ORAS were really ambitious new games/ remakes. Just because it's my favorite doesn't mean it's objectively the best though. Gen 6 deserved Z version. Which what we know from teraleak, could have been the best game of all time in the main series. Doesn't take away the games we got being a blast though!
    What's your favorite gen?

    Hello!
Gen 6 is awesome and my fav gen too. I love both X/Y and ORAS, though I gotta admit I've played ORAS far more... (I blame DexNav =P)

How do you feel about regional forms ? =3
Ikr! Dexnav is what got me interested into "catching them all" it's an awesome feature I wish they would bring back. Regional forms are awesome. Gives them a chance to go back to Pokemon that didn't get as much love/ weren't as good as they should have been and give them new life without an insane buff. It also means they can pump out more new Pokémon just by changing their brilliant designs a little bit to better reflect their new type. I think it's genius as long as it's not overused! Too bad they shut down internet service for 3ds otherwise we could help each other with our gen 6 dex's.

Forgive seeing the same reply twice above not sure what happened. But yeah, my first play through ever was frlg. Got through 4 gyms with only Charizard and lost the game. So iconic and design that ages so well as time goes on

Of course, it's what I do lol. :p
The info we got about what Gen 6 could've been breaks my heart. I'm not sure how much of the base game story could've been salvaged, (the weakest part of Gen 6 for me) but the expanded world and extra content added with it would've made the games a lot more exciting to play for me. And if Pokemon Z would've been a thing, my favorite aspect of Gen 7 could've potentially been in a much better game (in my opinion anyway) instead of locked to base version Sun/Moon. >.>
Oh, please give this thread a read when you have a moment by the way: IMPORTANT! New site users please read this!

Just read the post, thanks for that hopefully I don't do that again. I agree the story, while it arguably had the most beautiful overall message in the series, wasn't executed as well as it could have been and has akward pacing at times. I think Z version would have meant to Kalos what platinum was to Sinnoh or emerald to hoenn.
What is your favorite generation of Pokemon?

No worries, it's just there as a general guide for new users.
Honestly, the games 'as they were' made it hard for me to really understand what the point even was lol. 😅 But a 'Platinum' equivalent for Gen 6 would've been incredible.
As for my favorite, that would be Gen 8 with SW/SH with Shield being my specific fave of the two. I loved the main legendary trio in those games so much lol.

Sw/Sh are so underrated! They get so much hate for being really good games

Why is gen 6 your favorite?

To me the most important thing in each Pokemon game is the roster of new Pokemon. Gen 6 might have the fewest new mons, but aside from 3 of them I like them all. The new gen 6 mons are quality, not quantity =P
Combine that with the ORAS remakes, with the Hoenn mons being tied for my favorite batch of new mons with Kalos, and it's pretty much settled for me =P

    Aside from the new Pokemon;
-for ORAS the thing I loved the most is probably DexNav... loved sneaking up on Pokemon in patches of grass and trying not to spook them off, as well as just chaining for shinies and egg moves or hidden abilities.
Additionally Super Training was also a really fun minigame for doing EV training =3
And then there's secret bases. I did not waste as much time on them as I did back in RSE, but I did still make a bunch of them =P
And Contests, of course. I've always loved the Hoenn contests

-For XY the thing that was most memorable to me was Pokemon finally ditching the sprite art style and going 3D. It was also the first time we got to ride Pokemon, albeit in a very limited fashion. XY is also the oldest game I'm willing to do Pokemon breeding in, they changed a bunch of things relating to it. Prior to them it's just too dang cumbersome =P
And of course it added a brand new type which has been my 4th favorite type since.

Facts, ORAS contests are the only contests I've actually consistently played. Super training was a really good idea I wish they would bring back. But probably won't until we get proper X/y remakes. Or optimistically a Z version on a future console
