    The deprived human being I am, it's taken 20 years for me to even lay a hand on a Pokemon game (or even watch the series, for that matter).

    My extent of Pokemon knowledge is that I know about Pikachu (and the other original starters), and I know that Magikarp is 100% useless. Also Mudkip.

    It also means I'm clueless when it comes to the games. So I'll thank you all to have to answer my dumb questions.

    For the first dumb question: if I own Platinum and Alpha Sapphire, and I have a Luxray on Platinum that I would like on Alpha, how do I go about that?
     
    Firstly welcome to the forum and trust me any questions u have will easily be answered here haha.
    Ok so to get something from platinum to xy u have to have black/white or black and white2 to use poketransfer. Once u have ur pokemon on one of those games u must download pokemon bank and pokemon transporter. Transport to transport box then close it. Take out the game and put in Alpha Sapphire select the pokemon from the bank and put it in ur PC. This is a lot of work and idk if u have black/white or black2/white2 but i dont believe there is any way to get your pokemon to alpha sapphire without it or pokebank. Ik that was probably really confusing since u r new and pokemon is more complicated than it seems haha but sometimes its not worth all the work.     Looks like your gaming question was answered by Dedenne there although I have dug a bit deeper and apparently you can catch Luxio via DexNav in OR/AS on Route 118 if you're wondering, all you need is the National Dex and there, you can get one without needing the stressful transfer process. And wow 20 years? You surely are a late bloomer, I didn't get my first Pokemon game until like 7 years after first getting into the franchise.

    Hopefully getting involved with PC will allow you to learn so many new things about Pokemon you may have never known, because the franchise has changed a lot in what is almost 20 years, and here at PC we love Pokemon and well, being one big family in general.

    Welcome to the forums Lymphy!

    It's nice to see somebody who has never touched the franchise to have an interest in it. Usually people come here with past experience so it's definitely nice to see you take an interest so early into your Pokémon journey.

    Feel free to ask people questions as I'm sure they will try to their best to answer, and in regard to your current question. I think the process is a bit complicated, but as Hikamaru said, you can easily find one in Route 118.

How on earth did you manage to go by so long without playing one of the games, and what prompted you to get into it now? xD

    First of all, You shouldn't call yourself a noob! Everyone is a noob at first. It's cool to meet someone who's new to Pokemon and is interested in the series! 20 years is quite long!

    Thanks guys! I'm definitely taking a trip back to 118 to get my lux >:)
    I didn't really get into it when I was a kid (assumingly) because I didn't really have friends in the first instance XD (plus mum wouldn't buy it for me). But then I made weird friends who liked anime and manga, and then I got into Pokemon, and I caught my first Pikachu today ♥

    But I think I'm going to like this site quite a lot :D
     
    Maybe you could go get one of the cosplay Pikachus. Cause' Wynaut?
