You don't. The dev has expressed interested in increasing the boxes to the current max possible with decomp Emerald, but even then it would be impossible for a living dex.
Whether or not that increase happens in 1.2, we won't know until it releases

Wooo. This is the first rom hack I've ever played. It's insanely fun and hard. I looked through the forums so apologies if I've missed it, but can anyone help me figure out how to update my game? I'm running Imperium 1.1 on my Anbernic RG351MP running 351 Elec. The game is in my roms folder under gba. I just finished battling the pesky aqua grunts at the shipyard. I want to update to 1.2 from the google drive without losing my progress.

From the change log: Make sure your ROM file and save file have the same name. Do not patch your existing ROM. What exactly does this mean?

If you want to use your current save, you have to rename the newly patched ROM the same name as your previous 1.0/1.1 one.
And you need to patch on a fresh, unmodified ROM.

If I understand correctly, they are post only if you playing one of the Randomizers. If you playing a regular run, they are unavailable

Thank you. I was able to use my current save with the new 1.2. But I noticed one of the most welcome changes "You can cancel a search by pressing "L" or "Start", which will not break a DexNav chain" does not work for me. Using L or Start does not cancel the search. My buttons are mapped per default GBA controls. Is it possible I didn't move to 1.2 correctly? Or is something else afoot.

Idk, you can check your version by talking to the Nurse Joy (not the one that heals) and asking her for mode info. She will say if you on 1.2

In OARS rayquaza learn dragon ascent in metor falls, but in this game there is no lady in the meteor falls and the relearn option does not have dragon ascent
