the hypno sprite finally looks good. for the past 3 generations, hypno has been an awesome pokemon, but has had the worst sprites, and now, i am finally satisfied.
the starmie sprite looks horrible.
eevee and all of it's evolutions' sprites look quite strange. espeon doesn't look so cute anymore =/
that dragonite sprite looks horrible.
the xatu sprite is so awesome. i can't wait to use my xatu in D/P.
the sceptile sprite is awesome.
ludicoolo looks like a wimp =/

Shiftry looks like it will pwn any Fighting pokemon that comes in it's way!

and zangoose looks like a midget from r/s/e
Well, I do like the D/P sprites for most of the Pokemon, especially Charizard, Pikachu, Aerodactyl, Articuno and Lugia. However, some like Espeon are not too good as Espeon's sprite is too small and weird-looking!
yah the lighting is much more ample. in D/P, the colors stretch out a lot more than those in any of the other games. that's what i like about them because it's how i'm used to spriting.
I think the newest sprites, especially the ones for older pokemon, definitely have a bit more personality to them than before. Not since 2nd gen have I liked the in-game sprites this much; I think the simpler shading fits pokemon better than how shading was handled in 3rd gen (which is my least favorite set of sprites).
Plus not using as many values for shading does allow for usage of more unique colors, which I like.
